I just arrived in Calgary and plugged it right in! (just did a block heater back on the coast) It really did not want to start this morning in Salmon Arm (not plugged in). We''l see how well it starts in the morning.
Hey coaxial, If ya need a hand let me know, I'm just in the south west (glendale) till sunday.

Okay, I got this all sorted out yesterday :-)

I pushed the van into a heated parkade and started it a few hours later.. started perfectly. Drove to an oil change shop and convinced them to switch it from 15w40 mineral to a synthetic 0w30 or similar.

I was in luck and they had a petro canada synthetic duron-e 0w40 heavy duty diesel oil.

Seems quite ideal so I got that, filled up with "premium" diesel at shell + some winter additive, fully charged my optimum red-top battery, and she is running like a champ now. I ended up having to park outside all night last night in around -30 and it started up pretty good in the morning. Some sputtering and shaking but only for a few seconds. Synthetic seems quite smooth.

Only things I'd like to improve is heater output (thinking of blocking part of the rad with cardboard), and stiffness in the gearbox and clutch (not sure).

Thanks for the advice and help guys, and green1 I saw you around 17th and blackfoot the other day I think (I was in a mini cooper at the time) :)
