I am happy with the way the van is starting now! I am not sure wether it is the cleaning of the bus bar, new plugs or the sensor but it starts awesome. It was 5 degrees today and it fired right up. Previously, when it has been 15 degrees in the morning it started but burped, farted, sputtered and belched out some plumes of smoke. I think I must have had a faulty plug because the way it sputtered it semed like one, or more, cylinders was not doing what it should at morning start-up.

Finished repairing the 2 rust bubbles on the roof. 2 quarter-sized bubbles turned into a 3'x1' patch by the time the bondo/primer/paint went on, but it looks good from the ground.

While I was up there, I took off my TV aerials. Looks smoother, maybe it'll bump up the mileage too.

Now I'm trying to decide between circulating heater and 4-in-1 gauge.

-SeaFoam'd my crank, fuel filter and tank.
-Cleaned my K&N.
-TransTune'd (SeaFoam) my transmission.
-Drove it around till it all smoothed out then changed the oil with Synthetic 15W40 and put in a Puralator oil filter.
-Then drained off the trans and filled it back up with new.
-Going to change my transfer case oil to Redline 75-90 GL4-5 Synthetic tonight.
-Tomorrow I am flushing my steering fluid with the help of TransTune and putting in a magnefine filter on the return line.

Should be eady for hunting season and stupid winter after all this.

Replaced the original green top Glow plugs with new Mitsubishi green top glow plugs I bought in the spring in Armstrong. Doesn't start any faster ( how could it I just tick the starter and it's going) but all cylinders are operating when it's cold which sounds better. I think only 3 plugs were working even though the resistance measured the same for all of them.

Anyways, I had my ss exhaust tip re-welded to the hanger. I was kinda surprised that JB Weld lasted as long as it did. Trust the Hurley to vibrate it off.

FFR - in case it wasnt immediately obvious, polypro rope does not work very well on exhausts; it tends to melt.

Wind visors were in rough shape so I gave them a clean

Order of operations
600 grit
1200 grit
Brasso polish
Silver polish

Turned out pretty great!

Lost the front heat a few days ago.,no good for the coming winter. Bought the thermostat from RSI as well as a set of glow plugs. They are both Hyundai made. Everything went well ,heat comes back and have to wait for a cold morning for the new glow plugs to show how it starts up. Check the old rusty plugs and got all different and funny readings.

Finally got it back from the shop! One unfortunate byproduct of living in an apartment with street parking...
*Deep Breath*
All fluids and filters changed
New glow plugs (none were working.... what a difference!!)
New thermostat
New primer pump
Valve cover gasket
Front sway bar and tie rod bushings
Manual glow plug switch

Still to do, IP seal, rear bushings, temp gauge sensor, maybe a new battery and alternator belt. Aaaaaaaand a lift kit and new tires..... :-) :M

I did my glowplugs last night as well. From a coughing, sputtering beast to a smooth purr with minimal cranking. Next is valve cover gasket to get rid of my leopard spot patterned carport floor!

Yesterday I modified the rear right hand side... a nice bruise on the highway. Today I pulled out the interior carpet, and started taking out all the inside trim. Not bad for day two of ownership.

I'd expect nothing less from you, Josh. You have a name for her yet?

Falco.

Picked it up at the WWL terminal and drove it home. There were some nice cars there - I especially liked a couple of the old school minis - and of course there were a bunch of L400's
