Personally I think the timeline is the only thing within this argument worth focusing on. If the changes are not made within the timeline specified feel free to complain all you want. As for any other issues brought up they are either irrelevant, repetitive or/and directly relate to the timeline.
That is all (short and simple and all that is necessary)

Ps. Please do not focus on the negative (eg. Moderators lost) focus on the positives. I took on the position knowing that it is a thankless job but it does require effort and no one gets paid for it. I can't even imagine the time and effort that Mark puts into the site. Minor differences aside can't we all be glad that there is such a resource at all!?

Nick a good moderator is always appreciated everywhere. That goes without saying.

When the words offensive, legal and manipulating are involved, you can bet your mitsumaples that the differences are not subtle.

Timeline is irrelevant to most people.

Jesse, I don't really have anything against you personally ~ it's just some of the words you use that get personal. Seriously, you must know me enough by now ~ if I was really the person you are describing ~ do you think you would be posting in DC still? For instance: Take a look at RichD ~ now there's a chap who trolls blatantly. Has he been banned? I seriously believe in freedom of speech, just not so keen on freedom of slander, which is why some posts get moved off of the public forums, and I'm not sure about specious reasoning, although the latter is something that we all succumb to at one point or another.

I would say time line is very relevant to most people. Our lives are scheduled around time lines, it's in everything we do, including running a forum board. "Systematic Continuity" ~ how else would things get done if it weren't for time lines?

Falco.

Personally I just don't see what the issue with the dealer posts is... I never notice myself as I look at the forum from the main index page and only pop into the sales section now and then. All the palaver and whining lately is over nothing IMO, though it sure has cast a pall over this once genuinely friendly, helpful forum. Too bad the troll element has made such an impact...

Many people choose to utilize the sites active topic feature to stay ontop of recent posts and thats where the problem is..

It should have been over nothing as dealers shouldn't be allowed the freedom to top post. This is the only forum that I frequent that allows dealers to have their threads out of section essentially spamming the forum with ads for vehicles we already own. Again, this is only a problem if you use the active topic feature. Most forums will ban dealers or merchants from posting in the public section all together. I think Falco has left the honor system go for far too long and that has lead to the abuse. How often have you seen a tech thread and by the fifth post a dealer is in there saying he has filters on sale, or a cylinder head on sale or something shamelessly plugging away? In most forums that is big time taboo. I won't even get into the weekly updates of the status of an import, that is just ridiculous. Even Craigslist has measures to ensure you don't overpost, spam, or bump a post more than once every two days for this reason. On a forum those rules should be even stricter.

My five cents for now..

RichD has contributed more than anyone I know in this community. He is meticulous with his mods and shares them openly. He's been organizing Delica camping trips, bringing strangers together and is one of the most unselfish people I have had the pleasure of meeting.

Example. The time and money he put into Pedro and Anna's Delica when they rolled through here. He donated hundreds of dinero's and a full week of his time to people he just met. He's a giver and not a taker.

A troll is a taker. They feed off others. RichD is the opposite.

So what if he's got a loud voice ? He's got character !

Some people are very different behind a keyboard than they are in person. Not sure if you've met Rich, but he's at pretty much every meet and is a resourceful delica encyclopedia ! We need more like him. :M

Just an opinion.....If the voices of long time, and/or extremely knowledgable members, is less valued of the spam-o-rama dealers, then DC has reached a sad state. I find what Pajerry said to be bang on and I agree whole heartedly. Hopefully the September fix will help things greatly in returning the website back to an equilibrium before more losses occur.

The problem with immediately enforcing a ban on something is that without warning the people responsible are not given a chance to change their way of functioning. A warning has been given as well as a timeline. All the moderators ask for is a little bit of patience. :-)

Hopefully this will all be behind us shortly.

Wonder if Roger, whom of course went the way of RichD, still browses Delica.ca?

Glad Jesse the hippy is still with us :-D :-D
