I would never put a "modern" gas engine in if I was going to places were you cannot guarantee the quality of the fuel.
What you mean like north america ???
From talking with Arnold the whole reason for this thing is
to take it around the world. It is designed to fit in a shipping container. I talked to him when I drop by his place the other night to see it.
He wants to stay Diesel and knows it needs re-powered to meet his goal (not sure the 2.5 could handle the extra weight, axle, and 33X12 X6 tires!). Seems like the broken timing belts may have moved re-powering up on his to do list!

Wow , sarcasm really falls flat on this forum
North America doesn`t have `clean` fuel like the rest of the modern world ie europe/asia but cleaner than some of the third world countries.

Ha, earlier this year I was up in Kamloops, needed fuel and stopped in a Husky station before setting off back to Van. Started my assent south up the Yellow Head when I noticed she didn't have her usual sprightliness. Coming out of Merrit I realised that the mileage was, if you pardon the pun ~ tanking. Usually the Diesel Max is really good but this stuff was really stale by my reckoning. Either way usually I get good diesel from a station and sometimes I get bad fuel. I note these things and it wouldn't surprise me if some organizations are dumping dirty diesel (and charging us more for all the additives) at the so called service stations. Still, diesel is the way to go.
Falco.
