I can point out the other members but is there a need ? It's all in the first 2 pages of active topics.
I apologize for this one comment and I have edited my original post, this makes it out to sound as though you are the only one stirring the pot and I realize this is not the case

Never did I do such a thing. Take that back.

You should give the man some credit for coming up with those and being nice to share them with you to use for your own mod. 8-)

Ditto never. Any mods are mods. No good or bad. Just to suit personal taste.
It's the phrase "why didn't you do this?" followed by all of the reason why your solution would be better. It may be that it's not intentional but it can rub people the wrong way. eg) my radiator guards rather than moving the radiators up

For a moderator, those are pretty condescending statements.

99% of what I post in one form or another is the act of contributing and giving to this forum and it's members. As I said before, the 1% is opinions and thoughts. If they are shunned, so sue me.

I didn't bring up the vendors. You did. And a specific one at that. What did they contribute this past week ? month ? year ? Show the members.

Here's my latest contributions in the past week.

Why have my post been moved if I wanted my post here I would have posted here!

I expect either an explanation and a supporting rule that already exists or I want my posts put back

If that cannot be done I want my posts deleted from this thread and I am about to be a green1.

So how are moderators chosen, because i know that myself, and lot of other members know more about their deli and mechanics in general then nxski ( no offense). Do you need to post 5 times a day? Agree with Falco's philosophy on how things should work here? Why nxski and why hasnt a moderator position been offered to jfarsang, the thedjjack, profister, psilosin or marameisto for example. If i bolt on every accesory on earth to my delica can i be a moderator? This is the first time I've actually been pissed about this site.

Hey,
The moderator's name appears in blue,
Which raises the question what if a colorblind
Member was turning Green1 and did not know it!?
For the that matter he could be turning Green1 and
Not even know he is a moderator!
Oh the humanity!

I am already a moderator, but thank you for the nomination.

I have been suggesting for some time now that someone (actually a number of someones) needs to be added to the list of moderators. To put it bluntly, there has been little movement on this issue - or more correctly: unsatisfactory movement.

I have suggested names.

I have suggested we ask top posters.

I have suggested we ask particular people.

I have suggested we ask the forum in general, with selection being made by the current moderators.

I have suggested names be taken/given and a poll be tabulated, awarding moderating status to those selected by the masses.

I have suggested moderators "turn over" on a regular basis (say 6 months or a year), in order to keep the moderation "fresh" or we have "trial" moderators - just to see how things work out.

I think there may have been some other things I've suggested, but I may have forgotten those items because, quite frankly, we've been around this buoy (as we say in the RCN) a number of times... since about two years ago when Mystery Machine stopped moderating and BCDelica moved to Thailand (he still helps out, but he has a restaurant to run and he's not been as active as previous).

In short, I'm willing to moderate the Vancouver Island and the Pajero and Strada sub-forums, but there is simply too much else going on right now for me to help out all around. I think we've needed some more help for a while now.

Delica.ca has grown quite large, and it requires a larger team to manage/nurture it. It is a relatively tame forum compared to some out there (take a look at any of the tuner forums or some of the other JDM forums - it's like the Wild West out there), but it still needs monitoring and maintenance. And I'm sure Falco could use the help.

This is your current list of moderators - it is accessible from the User Control Panel (once you sign in, under Groups, Global Moderators):
  • mark (Site Administrator);
    BCDelica;
    Mystery Machine;
    mararmeisto;
    FalcoColumbarius (Site Administrator);
    Golf Cart;
    and nxski
If you would like to see this list grow, and it sounds like you do, then I would suggest you contact mark and/or Falco and let your wishes be known.

Moderators have no control over the site...just the gods...Hence the no movement??

I think the site needs SITE ADMINISTERS and power at the table (but, at the moment I am only a member for a short time...waiting for the gods to respond to me).

Smiles... Are you serious? Thedjjack, do you not read the numerous posts that I have put up?
thedjjack wrote:Moderators have no control over the site...just the gods...Hence the no movement??

Evidently they do have power or we wouldn't be addressing this subject right now.

Okay, why has Thedjjack's post been moved to the Last Word Cafe? This is a standard procedure and when a thread gets off topic enough and somewhat bickering, it gets moved to the Last Word Cafe where the members involved can continue their argument without the constant rude interruption of the original topic. If the thread gets seriously off topic, i.e.; threatening, slanderous, &c., then it gets removed from the public forum and deposited in a private forum for deliberation by the moderators.

As far as who becomes a moderator: It is by appointment. I was appointed as a mod and after a while Mark asked me if I would be interested in being an administrator. I have been so since the 28th of August, 2010 and I answer to him directly.

Thedjjack, you must understand what we do. Between earning a living in the cruel, cruel world, we run Delica Canada. We employ a philosophy of a self policing and courteous society that is summed up in "Site Rule 1.1.1". We do this because there are a number of issues we deal with in the general operation of Delica Canada that requires a lot of attention. Apart from dealing with social issues, such as "Jfarsang vs Rising Sun" we also deal with problems like spammers: When you see a spammer in the lists it is because we missed it at the front door. Last night I deleted 60 odd spammers, great way to spend one's Friday night, eh? I had to go through every last one because, well not everyone who registers in Delica Canada is a spammer, I'm sure you can attest to that. We have just made a change of procedure that should abate this issue, for now (thanks Jordan for the idea). We also get attacks on the site which requires the administration to employ industrial grade protection.

During this time we look for candidates for Moderators for Delica Canada. Currently there are seven Moderators, two of which are admins. We have considered a number of members as Mods:

  • Delicat ~ was a number one choice: Last thing he wants to do on his day off is be a COP, although he is a good friend of mine and I listen to his advice all the same.
  • Jay & Christine ~ abstained for not feeling comfortable with dealing with the software involved.
  • Green1 ~ was promising until he went wild. I have met with him since, he is a really nice guy actually... smiles.
  • Jfarsang ~ was considered until it was apparent that he was in the business of buying and selling vehicles which surmounts to a conflict of interest.
  • Fexlboi ~ I recommended Felix, first to design a potential landing page for Delica Canada and arranged a meeting at Brazza in North Van with Mark, which lasted an hour and an half ironing out exactly what the plan was. The moment he was given those permissions he started a selective pole on how to change Delica Canada to how he would have it. Mark immediately stopped that as it was not on the business agenda, at which point Felix ceased working on the project. Later, at a Christmas party, Felix suggested that he could help with the moderation of Delica Canada, so I put that forward to Mark (who pays for all this) and he went with my recommendation as Felix told me that it would only be moderating. After a couple of weeks he started suggesting new forum formats (with models*) that were extremely different to the current format, to a point that it was very difficult to navigate. I explained this to him, exhorting him to consider something not so extreme at first (even though this was not in the original job description of this current detail). At this point he pretty much stopped moderating, except for personally related events such as helping Christine by making one of her posts a sticky, &c., which I saw no harm in and it was my hope that he would be more active so I watched for a while. Shortly after this I got a call from Mark informing that Felix had suggested:

    "One (Mark) who has no personal involvement in the Delica community at all anymore as he does not own a Delica for years nor does he show up at any of the local meets. The other person (Falco) is involved in the community and an active member, a very nice guy, but way too opinionated and conservative to run this forum on his own."

    This was a slap in the face and consequently led to the completion of his tenure as a moderator ~ as he had not been fulfilling the job since the time he didn't get his way. For one, I don't run this site on my own, just because you don't see Mark posting like Jesse, does not mean he is idle. Building a separate website for the commercial aspects of Delicadom is no mean feat (See the numerous posts regarding this).
  • Nxski ~ was my nomination as well, and so far he has been honest with me and I stand by him. He may not be perfect, but then neither am I, nor are you as I am sure you would agree with ~ we are human.

There have been others, many of which have been scared away by Jesse & Steven. Can't say as I blame them ~ hidden agendas have often been scary to deal with up front, easier to just read about it from a distance.

Then there are members, whom for instance ~ demand we put a stop to double posting, and for a good reason. However, they then go ahead and do just that. So I merge the two threads and they take exception to this, which is really hypocritical in my opinion, and claim I've deleted, deleted, deleted. This is also incorrect. In fact very little has been deleted in Delica Canada, besides spammers ~ in which case an awful lot has been deleted.

I could go on ad nauseum but let's stop here, I have a charity car wash to go to.

Does this answer some of your questions?

Falco.
