I just discovered this thread ,passed by it many times as i am not real interested in a Guinness record , what a treat , great dicussion can we say STICKY maybe with a new title .
One thought , we are adoing a small part by driving 15 plus year old vehicles with every intention of kepping them going for some time rather than buy a new vehicle whats the average now every 3 or 4 years many of us on WVO ,not perfect but better than petrol diesel [ me not yet ]
whoops baby is awake gotta go , Bryan

We're staying in relatively warm areas so we can start on our Oil. Plus with the added benefit of having an electric heater installed just before its injected.

Question please :

How are you driving on 100% WVO/SVO ?

I know one fellow in northern AB who's running on 'true' 100% WVO 24/7 but the only way he was able to do that without damaging the injection pump, injectors, plugs was to install an espar hydronic.

If you don't run a fuel line/IP/inj heater like the espar, you'd still need to heat the IP/lines themselves before you pump the oil in if not starting/purging on dino.

I take it you guys are south of the border (warmer weather) then ?

they quit! i got an email from a mass sendout saying something along the lines of massive engine failure due to pulling too much weight, in South Carolina. wish i could find it for the details but maybe i deleted it... they were stuck there for three months, and recently put the mission on hiatus to go home and get jobs...
they gave up blogging in december

some of us offered lots of support to these guys.. too bad they didnt solicit our help and feedback on the forum.. esp when they needed it most!
i asked them a couple of times about their filtration process.. i was worried they werent sufficiently dewatering and might have trouble down the road... they didnt seem to care. i never heard from them

Hey guys,

Thought I'd read the latest on this story. Never got good vibes from the beginning on their project, seemed like they were trying to get freebee on other peoples expenses but I only read their first page or two so I could be wrong. Did they really have a genuine intent or were they more into getting a nice "documented road trip "? Too bad for them anyway, I wouldn't wish for anyone to break down on road trips. It adds to the adventure but there's more pleasant way to do it...

It's still interesting to hear about wvo on road trip. But I much prefer reading from people that have done their homework and don't kill their van while still having an amazing trip, After OIl comes to mind...

I left Vancouver 4 days ago, now I'm in a lost little town in Alberta (Oyen?) and my diesel gauge is still showing full, what a great feeling! I've used 7 cubies so far, still have a bunch to go through! Really curious to see how far I can make it on just a few cups of diesel...

Cheers,
David

Two comments, and then "that's all I have to say 'bout that": I think their dreams were bigger than their abilities, and I think that trailer they were pulling was bigger than their van (and I suspect it got filled far too full, far too often).
