Hello ... Just bought this truck and I sure am hoping I made the right choice.

2.5 turbo diesel

I'm getting little to know heat in the cab. I'm guessing it's the thermostat so the first step will be cleaning the one I've got - I've got to wait 3-4 weeks via the Mitsu dealership anyways and figure maybe cleaning it will do the trick...The system looks like it needs a flush so might as well... Thought's on cleaning the thermostat from anyone? Varsal.. ?

If that doesn't entirely work... I came across somewhere that the "heater matrix" can be flushed. First...is this the heater core? And how does one go about flushing it?

Finally... Is there someone in Calgary - prefer independent backyard type guy or just really savvy - that knows these vehicles?

By the way I've got a Haynes manual in english for this thing... (thank God).

Can't really add much to that...

Also I found out that to access the heater matrix [core] the dash has to come off...so I'm praying that's not the issue but rather some little connector not connected relative to the info in that link.

Don't know anything about the "matrix", but the heater core can be flushed by swapping the hoses to it, run the heater for a bit, and then swapping them back.

Of course, flushing a bunch of 'crap' out of your heater core puts it into your water system, so another way of doing it is to remove the core, flush it, re-install.

I think the Aussie's call the core a "matrix"...but regardless... Does accessing the heater core on this truck require the dash coming off or can I get to it from the engine compartment?

The hoses to flush it are behind the turbo somewhere correct? Does the intercooler intake sitting on top have to come off...?

I would look at the whole heating system Not just the cab heat. Aluminum head cast block motors require a functional system. When were the belts on the motor done last.

I would flush the system, pull the rad and heater cores and have them cleaned. Replace all rubber hoses, water pump and thermostat. Add a block heater etc....Do it once do it right.

This and the timing/balance belts was the first things I did when I bought my delica.

Apparently the timing belt was done on this vehicle recently - less than 6 months ago.

It already has a block heater that works...I live in Calgary.

I'm going to flush it this weekend with a new thermostat.
