LSD Rear Differential swap (to van with open rear)

Post by Yokohama »

I have a 1990 P04W L300 RWD with open rear differential. What rear differential does this van have? Do I have a 8 or 8.5 inch rear? Can I use the LSD from any other North American Mitsubishi trucks/SUV in my rear axle housing?

Thank you.

The first thing I would do if I were experiencing an open rear is close the tailgate.

Seriously, how different is the monocoque Vanwagon from the monocoque Starwagon? I would think that Mister Mitsubishi would be practical in how he assembled these wagons and kept the basic structure the same. It seems to me that you ought to consider doing some cross border shopping at a wrecking yard in, say ~ Surrey or Anacis Island in British Columbia (Canada)....

Wait a minute... your IP is placing you in Tulsa, Oklahoma. The only Surrey you're going to know has a fringe on top (sorry, couldn't resist).

Go to: "Delica Canada Technical". Go though "L300 Downloads", in there you will find dimensions. Perhaps that may help you in your quest.

What engine is in your Vanwagon?

Falco.

P.S.: I just checked out the code references in L300 General and P04W states that you have P: New L300; 0: Standard Body; 4: 4G64 or G64B engine; W: Wagon (mini-bus). So I guess the question remains: How mechanically adept are you? Read through L300 General in L300 Downloads.
