I keep hearing people raving about switching the rubber intercooler pipes to the metal ones on the 2800 and I want to do it to my pajero but cant seem to find any for sale anyone have any advice.

Take the rubber one's to a muffler shop and have them bend up stainless or aluminum ones

Profister I'm thinking of doing this to my pajero at some point, did you notice a big difference?

I made my own out of copper fittings soldered it up and what a big difference in acceleration I don't know how to put pics on here or I would...

There is no 'big' difference.

The big difference you will notice is if you spend that same amount of money on a 2.5" exhaust.

I swapped back and forth stock with stainless tubing (on three different L400's) and there was no difference on the tach/speedo/pyro/boost/oil pressure gauges or at the throttle.

If you think you feel a difference then maybe it's in your head. Unless your stock hoses were in poor shape to begin with. Then you'll notice a difference.

So long as the rubber hoses are in good shape, you will see no performance gain at all. If your hoses are folding on the inside and flexing like a wet noodle, then you will see a performance gain going to 'regular' stock hoses or solid pipes.

With that said, there is no reason not to get them done. I'm just saying that it's really one of the last things on the list for a performance gain.

Profister. Who charged you $600 ?!?! For that much, you should get both tubes mandrel bent (no welding) with stainless steel tubing.

well my head is full of a lot of crap jesse lol being a plumber and all ha ha ha.... but the difference wasn't a big one so you are right there but it felt like it had a bit more pop at the initial acceleration... I did however use from the turbo all 2 inch ( 50 mm ) copper pipe to the intercooler then had to use 1.5 inch from the top of the intercooler to the intake manifold.... not sure if the wee bit extra air going from the turbo helped but I'm sure it didn't hurt.... I do agree 100 % one should increase size of exhaust to 2.5 or 3 inch cause making a diesel breath makes great torque for sure I know on my mazda 1.6 l turbo car that when I went from the puny 1.5 inch exhaust to the 2.5 inch it not only automatically increased boost by about 5 psi but the egt's went down a lot too

The 2" from the turbo will help.

Any place where air is passing through and you can enlarge that area will be good so long as the exhaust is larger as well.

Right off the bat, a larger inner diameter exhaust will net you a good increase in performance.

deli1733: I did not replace the original hoses yet; waiting for the silicone couplers to come from Hong Kong.

well thats definitely my next move this year either 2.5 or 3 inch exhaust.... since it's a 2.8 l probably 3 if I can swing it....
