Hand Brake (or brake system) light on

I'm glad I checked out posts... I had no idea that light could indicate a problem with the brake system.

Anyway I'd like to check out the simple stuff first, so I'll look at the fluid levels tomorrow, but I'd also like to check the switch on the hand brake itself.. The light came on immediately after the van sat for a few days in -40 weather, and there are no visible fluids on the ground or anything, so I thought I'd check the possibility of a stuck switch. Is it located at the hand brake lever somewhere? Also, anyone know if I need to/how to remove the housing around the lever to get a look around?

Typically it low brake fluid and an indication that the pads/shoe are almost worn out.

Cold weather = less fluid = light

I would check the brakes first before I looked for the switch.

Switch is typically on the hand brake under the cover (no idea how to remove it on L400 as I have never worked on one). Should be simple to find...I doubt it is the problem.

Cheers
David

Cool, thanks for the advice. The brakes were done right before I bought it, so the pads/shoes should be okay. I'll check the fluid level tonight.
