Sad day for sure...

Well, a horrible thing happened on Saturday night. I was driving East on Hwy 1 between Sicamous and Revelstoke, going to work, and hit a patch of black ice and crashed my beloved L300. I am now waiting for everyones favourite insurance company to get back to me to tell me how little they will give me. I'm 99% sure it is a write off, so the struggle now will be getting a fair shake from ICBC and try to get enough to get me into another.

Anyone have dealings with ICBC and writing off a RHD? Any advice would be appreciated.

That sucks big time, sounds like you're ok though... that's the main thing (physically anyway, emotionally that's another story isn't it?!?)

Good luck.

Glad to hear you're okay.

As for Icbc, they want to write off your RHD. It's one less on the road according to them and they seem to be paying top dollar/dealer prices.

Thanks all, I came out unscathed in spite of the roll and endo that my van handled amazingly well. I must say that I was VERY impressed.

Thanks, that's good to hear and I'm hoping for the best.

I was thinking about parts afterwards, my van had the slider windows, none of them broke in the accident, if someone is interested I could find out what wrecking yard gets to keep my precious and I could hook up a fellow Delica.ca member with sliders. Just a thought.

Yes Pistachio, it is time for a L400 LWB, that's exactly what this $ will go towards.

No complaints from me with ICBC when my L300 burnt - they were fair and fast with payment. I went in expecting the worst and was quite pleasantly surprised.

Good that you were ok... the van can be replaced.

Glad to hear you're OK. I have an l300 with the cursed hinged windows, I'd be interested in your sliders if it works out that ICBC decides your van's totalled.

Thanks Hunter, ya that's it.

Turns out it was sold to these guys:

Century Truck Sales & Parts
PORT COQUITLAM, BC
604-250-6669

There was some good parts on my van if anyone down there was looking. 2 of the 3 sliding windows were untouched in the accident. Also had awesome PIAA bulbs in the headlights if anyone can get to them.
