front suspension sound

Good Evening,
Having a sound coming from the front passenger suspension. It does not occur on large movements of the suspension rather on smaller movements like small pot-holes and such. The sound is like a hollow knock if that helps. I have Procomps all around, and will be three years old this summer.
Any ideas?
Thanks
Rob

Can be anything but here's the typical list :
Did you replace the bottom shock rubber bushing with the polyurethane one ? If not, likely the rubber bushing is worn. Common and a known problem.
Have you replaced the swaybar bushings ? If old, common problem is they knock over small bumps.
Inner and outer tierods. If they are shot, you'll get the knocking as well.
All three problems can sound the same in the cab.

Check the nut at the top of the shock. It's a pin and has a 9/16 nut.
If it loosens (which I have seen happen to mine) it will give you a quick
knocking sound. Tighten it down a bit and see if that changes anything.
You should be able to turn the wheels to the left totally and just slip
a wrench in there. If you notice the threaded pin turns as you tighten
the shock just hold the tip (top) with some pliers and tighten.

Cheers guys,
I bought my van from Mardy and know that he replaced alot of the bushings. I will check out the ones on the shocks though. Is there an easy way to test and see if the tire rods are shot? I will also look at the nut on the top of the shock.
Thanks again

With a good glove, grab the tie rod and pull hard on it back and forth side to side. It should not move at all.
