Super Exceed in Nova Scotia

Post by jfmills73 »

8-) Greetings all!
We took delivery of our 1995 Super Exceed last August....but only now getting it together to post an introduction.
After much research on-line I chose to buy from Mardy at Amazing Auto and it was an excellent decision. The truck was shipped via rail from BC to Halifax and was waiting for me at the main terminal. The paper-work guy referred to it as a "drifter". I gave him a puzzled look. "They drift all over the road these right-hand drives" he commented sagely.
And for the first day or so he was correct. It took a little getting used to being on the other side and I often found myself in the middle of the road. But after a week my wife and I had no problems and enjoyed the height the Delica gave us. The older diesel is a little noisy and smoky at start, but with 4WD we have never got stuck in snow or mud this winter.
Mardy said to install a block heater. Excellent advice as without it she takes some encouragement to start after a minus 10 night...
Diesel consumption is not that great, but its a heavy vehicle to drive about! We have a 2 and 4 year old and its their favourite vehicle.

I had no problem finding an oil filter, but replacement wipers was a different story. I searched the boards and found reference to a side-saddle adaptor that comes with Bosch Excel+ wiper blades. Which indeed they do. Except the adaptor is too narrow to fit the wiper arm end. Then I tried the adaptors you can buy from CT. Same story. I took the truck into my local Toyota garage and they had some different adaptors that screw on and the old arms to allow attachment of the regular hook-style blades. They were not exactly the right fit, but close enough to grind a little and drill an extra hole to make fit.
I will post pics and more info in the right section later.

So any other Delica owners in Halifax and vicinity?

Hi,
I am pleased to have found this thread.
I am expecting delivery of my first L400 this month(January, 2013).
I would like to set up a dialogue with you and discover how many Delicas we can find in Atlantic Canada.
I have encouraged this forum to ad an Atlantic Canada Events Page and hope to be a part of that process or at least a contributor and participant.

I look forward to hearing from you.

Cheers,
Jim
