Hi All,
My name is Bryan and I currently live in Calgary with my fiancée Louise. We are trying to get a good vehicle to get us to ski hills and mountain bike trails. The main feature we want is a manual transmission and space for our furkids. My cousin had a good experience importing a Big Horn a few years ago and suggested we consider importing. After a bit of research we believe that a Delica would be the choice vehicle for our needs so we are now looking to get one in the near future.
This forum seems like it is full of great information by helpful people who are willing to share. I have read a number posts and got a good feel for the sort of support that this community provides. It is very positive (rule #1 is a great idea) especially compared to comments that I usually see posted on news articles.
Looking forward to driving our new Delica.
Cheers,
Bryan

Welcome Bryan and Louise!
Firstly... did Madmazda say "soft foot"?

LOL... he's right, of course. Just wanted to give him a little dig...
Now... be sure to get yourself fully versed on these babies. They are wonderful vehicles with a number of different configurations. As far as getting a 5-speed, there has been a lot of chat comparing the automatics with the 5-speeds... typically the autos are much stronger. I believe the clutch is the weak point of the manual gearbox. Not saying to eliminate it from you want list, just saying be sure you have all the facts first. Mardy won't steer you in the wrong direction... he's honest and finds some great buses.
We have been trying to keep the Calgary group active with regular meets and off-road outtings. Please keep an eye out on the Alberta events page. Would be great to see you guys come out and meet some of the gang. We have had lots of good times and include everyone in our events so nobody gets left behind. There are a few posts in the Member trips area as well so you can see what we get up to.
Looking forward to eventually meeting you guys!
Cheers!
Ian

I have been able to read through some posts and found lots of information on this site. However, I didn’t find a discussion comparing manuals to automatics. We both have a strong bias towards manual and would choose manual unless it is guaranteed problems. Hopefully our “soft foot” will keep us from driving it into the ground. Looks like we were just a bit too late to hit the March outings, hopefully there is something soon. The next step must be contacting some sellers.
Thanks for the replies,
Bryan

Hi,
We have one blue L400 on sale now_ low mileage with crystal lite roof combination.
The other green L400 with manual tranny was sold to Vancouver this month.

There's no doubt manual tranny is superior to automatic, but that will be the buyer's choice eventually.
We have a promotion package for customers from Mid Canada.
We will do all jobs that will be pointed out during third party inspection.

Current owner now. We went with the L400 5sp from Rising Sun. Can't wait to start exploring in it.
