white smoke during start up only

Hey folks,

My pajero is getting harder and harder to start. On especially cold mornings she chokes, sputters and shakes and dies. I need to try two sometimes three times to get her going. Then once she does get going she blows out a muther load of white smoke. I'm talking a plume you could see from space! For the rest of the day, she starts up no problem - little puff of black and away we go.

From what I've read online, many people start chasing the glow plugs, glow plug relay, etc or install a bypass and find good results. Problem being that a mechanic has checked the plugs and etc and feels they are all good to go. He feels it might be the injectors. Does this sound right? Anybody deal with this issue before?

Cheers.

My pajero is the same way, but my problem is that only 2 glow plugs are working, nothing against ur mechanic but I would still check them. Its really easy to test them. Just take a cable from the postive of battery and touch the top of the glow plug if it sparks she's works. Could be the injector,I would suggest running an injector cleaner, before spends a pile of $$$ on injectors. Just my 2 cents.

Definitely a glo plug issue. You have to take the connector off first and do what 'mystery' recommends on checking the glo plugs one at a time...

Thanks - will check the plugs myself.
