BCAA vs ICBC Roadstar vs ICBC Roadside assistance

Recently I needed a flatbed tow from Revelstoke to Vancouver due to a blown turbo.
Paying out of my pocket $2,100
With ICBC Roadside plus $2,000
With BCAA premium $500
Annual cost for ICBC roadside plus $50
They deduct $100 for towing which you have to pay up front and get reimbursed for later
Annual cost for BCAA premium $110
You only pay the difference after 320km's
As soon as I got back home I cancelled my ICBC roadside plus and roadstar. What a joke.
I spent $40 in phone calls to ICBC trying trying to decipher what they cover. Turns out not much.
BCAA on the other hand I was on the phone for less than 5 mins and 40 mins later my rig was being towed home.
Big difference in service and cost.
If you travel outside of your city, pay the $110 a year for the premium BCAA membership.
Most people don't buy it and then need it. Quite painful to open your wallet and bend over for towing if you only have ICBC or nothing at all.
Heads up for the traveling folk this summer
