The Scottish Awning

After holding a Shady Boy Awning in my hands and sadly realizing that it just would'nt work for me, I set out with my friend Christine to solve the awning problem.

We went to Army and Navy in this really cool old building. Sorry I can't remember if it was New West. or not. We found a 8x10 tarp, two adjustable tent thingys ,50' of high viz rope and 6 tent pegs. The four 4" bongles were picked up at Princess auto. Total = $26.00. It was then that I blurted out, "its the Scottish Awning!". We both laughed while continuing our browsing experiance.

Here are some pix:

Had I worn my kilt while erecting the SA, the neighbors would have thoughts for sure.
I am officially ready for the upcoming Highland Games season!
Thanks Christine for a great experiance :-D

P.S. It took 10 minutes to erect and 8 minutes to roll-up. Wind was medium as it was just about to shower.

yep. very cool... (pun intended, shaded... get it... LOL.). :? :-D
i put together a similiar system using a woodland camo tarp, and 2 adjustable poles.

my plan was to use snaps along the top of my roof rack to mount it. still looking for suitable snaps, but hell, i could just tie it on. :-)

i will post pics whenever i actually get this project done.
wow... way too many projects... :?

That's an elegant set-up, White Mule, Irp. Very nice, indeed.

Storing the tarp all wet and messy in the Mule was not acceptable. I used the 16" cut-off peice of pipe as a "umbrella" holder at the rear, near the tail gate. Also great for walking sticks etc.

I will probably have to install another pipe on the other side to help balance things out 8-)
