Have a line on some LT 245-70 R15 tires from a friends truck. Current stock aluminum rims are holding 215-80 R15 tires now, and seems the most common size people use is 235-75 R15. Curious if anyone knows;
1 - will the stock rims take a 245-70 R15?
2 - alternatively, what is the largest tire size possible on the stock rims.
Many tks for anyone's input.
Sean

I know andy got his BFG A/T 31/1050/r15s put on his stock rims. Not recommended due to premature tire wear. I think they fit with no trimming (but don't quote me on that). So I hope that helps you. My winters are 235/57/15's and they work great.

Found some virtually new 235 75R15 M+S that will likely do the trick. Better safe than sorry and don't plan on any killer wheeling anyway! tks for info.

Looking at the spec sheet for my tires (Bridgestone LT235/75R15), the 245/70R
16 need a minimum of 6.5". For the stock rims (6") every tire place I talked to said to not go larger than 235/75 or 235/70.

I have found conflicting info; an individual with numerous earlier Pathfinders has claimed to have mounted 30/9.5/15 on his stock 15 x 6 rims which are the same as our stock Deli's. Others have said do not mount anything much larger than what we run with stock. Is this possible? safe? recommended?
Cheers,
Joe

Lots of Delica run on 30/9.5R15... no complaints. Check this post:

You CAN mount 30 inch tires on the stock rims... and you may never have a problem... that doesn't mean it's a good idea...
Tall tires on narrow rims is dangerous because of the risk of the tire "jumping" the rim, and generally at the worst possible time (emergency manoeuvring?) I'm not saying it happens frequently, but it only takes once...
Many tire shops will refuse to mount anything larger than 29 inch on those stock rims for precisely this reason, they don't want to be held liable if something goes wrong... other shops will do anything as long as you pay them...
General recommendation is no larger than 29" on stock rims, 30" on 6 1/2" rims
