Isuzu ELF Questions

Hey guys, not a delica, but I've been told y'alls are about the most knowledgeable on anything even remotely related.

I'm trying to find some info on an isuzu elf NHS55e,

mostly to find out if it's possible to get a set of gears for it to be able to do highway speeds without sitting right at redline. It's a 1992 4JB1 2.8l NA diesel with an axle code RV9.

That being said, it looks as if it might be possible to fit a much larger set of tires on it to do effectively the same thing.

Does anyone know the stock bolt pattern/tire size? or the tallest tires that can actually fit on the back?

If this isn't the right place, can anyone recommend a forum where people might have some more knowledge?

Thanks,

-Erik

I'm assuming that the Elf in question is a cab forward truck? Not sure the specifics of the Isuzu exactly but with most of teh cab forward trucks there is ample room for much larger rear tires than stock (not as much room up front but the factory fronts tend to be larger than the factory rears to begin with). Worst case scenario you could alwats do a mild bed lift for more room. You will likely end up with a racked stance with no load in the bed but that looks cool anyway. Many of these types of trucks come with odd sized rear rims/tires (ie 12.5", 15.5") so swaps can be required whether you wanted to or not.

I have a Toyota Liteace truck that came with 12.5" rears rims skinned with tires that were very low profile and almost as wide as they were tall. The fronts were a 185R13 (ie much larger diameter). Nothing even close to either of them with any type of suitable load rating were available in Canada so I ended up swapping to 14" rims front and rear running yokohama Y370 195/75R14s...at least 6" larger in diamter than stock rears and they fit fine. As a side effect, and what you are interested in, doing this really lowered my highway rpms (speedo now reads 90 when I am actually doing 105).

Another place to try posting is www.ivoac.ca, there is at least one guy I have seen on there with an Isuzu Elf, and it is frequented often by a japanese vendor who has sold many Elfs.
