Has anyone had success removing and replacing the plastic trim that runs down the side and across the back of the L300. I'm stripping off paint and there is some rust "seaping" out from underneath it that I can't get at with a wire wheel without ruining that trim. Any feed back would be helpful. Thanks all! Matt

You need to use a lot of laquer thinner if you don't want to chip the paint but if you're repainting anyways just pull on it. There is a double sided adhesive foam tape used to bond the trim to the body

I wasn't sure if it had plastic clips on it that would snap and be a pain to replace. Did you manage to get it back on pretty well?... what did you use to stick it back on? Was it hard to rip off?

I only peeled the trim at the bottom back slightly and then pushed it back down. The trim that separates the 2 collies I have only heard about because richd took it off. I removed the plastic protective prices that go around the door handles but I wasn't very careful and took off lots of paint and then patched it with the wrong colour paint (I'm planning to repaint the van anyways). I don't actually like any of the trim though so i have no plans for re-attaching any of it.

The side trim pieces have plastic clips as well as adhesive, if you're taking them off permanently you will need to fill the holes. I saw rust creeping out from the plastic trim pieces so I took them off and kept them off to keep future moisture out.
