It's braced on top and on the bottom of the stock bullbar.

It's small, easily removable (undo 3 bolts and swings up) yet strong as bull and you can sit on it eating sandwiches.

Doesn't affect approach angle, headlights nor road view from inside. Perfect height.

The tire carrier or the sandwiches? 'Cause I could really use a sandwich... :-D

Hey! You could have at least let me finish the bumper and put the proper spare on it before you posted shots of my van. /tokengrumble (Jessie: thx for removing the unfinished shot; I promise I'll give you a finished one later for you to share)

Also, I specifically requested this and was participant in design so at least half of it came from my brain. ;-P

Good prototype, though. We'll be adding a little extra bracing to support the horizontal pipe, a bracket for my license plate, and welding shut some holes in the bumper left over from removing all the stock bracketry. Will show off after paint (the whole van is going into paint next week) at a mini meet near you.

Good, the Delica can use extra help in frontal protection just like the old VW buses.

looks great, totally reminds me of my old vw.

I'm going to be adding a wvo tank, so I need to find a spot for my spare. Any one considered one of these? http://www.etrailer.com/Trailer-Cargo-C ... 31006.html

mounting it in the back means a conflict with the hatch though, and it doesn't have a hinge. Keep us up to date eh.

I wonder if you could find a hitch mount like that that folds down so you could get it out of the way of the hatch!?

I didn't think of that until David mentioned it but totally makes sense.

Exactly my thought process. We need the range an additional tank provides, and a swing-out tire carrier is too encumbering in the back.

PS thanks for that etrailer link. Cool site.
