Dealer “Beef” Threads – Please Read (New Guideline)

Due to multiple flags on the topic, a recent thread concerning a dispute between a customer and dealer has been removed from the public forum.
The original post contained unnecessary inflammatory references directed at the dealer, a competing dealer then saw it fit to weigh in, and the situation rapidly degenerated into (well quite frankly) an infantile pissing match. Upon consulting with Falco, we both agreed that it would be impractical and inappropriate to “selectively” delete only portions of the thread, and that the more appropriate course of action would be to remove it altogether.
Dealer Feedback, Beefs and Bouquets are an important function of this board, as these help us become aware of which dealers Delica.ca members are happiest with.
However, a dissatisfied customer has the responsibility to make every attempt possible to resolve their dispute directly with the dealer before “going public” on the internet.
Furthermore, “Beef” posts should stick strictly to the verifiable facts, and should never stray into derogatory character references. This is particularly true in cases where the Courts are involved, since your comments potentially may be entered into evidence.
Example of Acceptable Beef:
“I was disappointed by my recent experience with XYZ Motors. When I dropped off my van for service Tuesday late afternoon, the service adviser told me that my van would be stored in their secured lot. When I returned to pick up my vehicle the next day, I was shocked to find that my vehicle had been vandalized. After questioning the service advisor, he admitted that the secured lot had been full, and that they parked my van in the back alley overnight instead. I know that insurance will provide some coverage, but my brand new custom paint job will just never look the same!”
Example of an Unacceptable Beef:
“Frank for XYZ is a lying cheat. I should have know this from the moment I walked into XYZ (he looks like a sleaze). Beware of XYZ – Everybody should know that these slimy idiot scums are just looking to rip you off!”
The board member who posted the original message has been encouraged to focus on resolving his differences with the dealer privately, and if his efforts should fail to compose another post detailing specific issues with the dealer.
In order to avoid similar situations in the future, the ability to post in Dealer Beef thread discussions will now be restricted to individuals DIRECTLY involved in the dispute (this normally would involve one customer and one dealer). Please do not post to Dealer Beef threads unless you are directly involved in the dispute, as your thread will be removed.
Thank you for your understanding.

I am ok with this new rule (however I am unhappy with how it was applied and who made it)...I do not like it being applied to this past post (everyone posted in that thread knowing it was a public thread and I do not appreciate my threads being deleted)....
Mostly I am not happy with this being a Mark/Falco decision. I have seen way to many of these forms fail from one or two people becoming "gods" of a form. I again plead with you two to please come up with a new form management model. I hate to see a good community form fall apart.

Why have the thread section if only 2 people can post or read it? Wouldn't this just be an email or private message?

So now the 'beef' ability is to be tightly censored and closed to discussion. Might as well just assign every dealer an A+ BEST SELLER EVAR Award and just close this sub-forum as it no longer has any purpose to the end forum user. Under the new rules it will only serve as advertisments of glowing dealer testamonials that benefits only the dealers.

.........??
No, anyone can read it and form their own opinion on what is stated in said post.
What I find ironic is much of this ado has spawned out of a thread that was announcing the separation of Delica Trader ( i.e.; Vehicle Sales) and Delica Canada, in particular VAT. Up to this point there were complaints about this issue so we responded by giving what everyone was asking for, once we made the announcement it all unravelled. That is absolutely bizarre.
As far as a two man show goes, we are not gods we do not profess to be even demi-gods, we are not saints, cardinals nor bishops ~ we're not friars, not even the local clergy. We are in fact administrators, the bottom of the totem pole. We administrate. As mentioned before, Mark built this site out of his own pocket ~ how much have you paid into the plan? Really this is a pretty good deal and the price is right. You have a place to exchange ideas and compare notes with people all over the world about Delicas and even people with other vehicles, not bad for a Delica Club. How good is that? There are other 4x4 sites out there, DC is not the only game in town.
Falco.

Arghhhh guys!
Yes it sucks to have your post deleted. It probably sucks even more to have to administer this but it royally sucks when a good forum like this one gets sidetracked by unnecessary posts, lame attacks...
The benefit of being an active member is that you had the chance to read the original post and were able to make your own idea or opinion on who said whatever. And for those who missed it well, you missed the entertainment factor but are left with what this site should be... technical posts on a great truck.
Cheer up!

I'm in agreement with Falco and delicat. There really is no use to be had from this thread in the future so I can't see the harm in deleting it. At the very least it needed editing but as Falco stated, doing that would just be too confusing and would probably rub more people the wrong way.

So the Beef post will be open to read by the community as long as the two people follow the rules of what they are allowed to say? If this is the rule why was the whole post deleted? This could be seen as protecting Mardy, and is that fair to other dealers?
I disagree with NXSKI on this. This post does serve a purpose that someone that bought a Delica off Mardy was unhappy. No one can expect 100% happy customers especially when selling used imported trucks without a major manufacture backing up the purchase. I think removing the whole thread is wrong. It should have been moderated heavily when RichD pointed it out and possibly looked. Maybe two "gods" is too few?

honestly I do not care about the Dealer section even if it is in the new post section or where ever this stuff is. I like the site and I have seen to many forms fail when they get: 1} big and 2) only 1 or 2 people control them. it is an honest concern. You do not have to agree.
If you are hearing lots of complaints this would be an example of how 1 or 2 people do can fail to hear and administer what the users want. What i find ironic is you have a unhappy user group and you are not hearing this?

Yes Mark made the site and it is free to his users (the user group is big enough it should be returning money now (if not then you really do need the help administering). Yes Mark has the right to do as he pleases (this is what I define as "god") (this is what happened to all the other forms that ended in a user split). Yes this is the "god' attitude I worry about. Yes your site...I hope I am wrong and it does not get run into the ground.

I agree with you thedjjack to an extent. What I was trying to convey is that the way the poster went about criticizing Mardy and the way it turned into a 'gong show' is not useful in the future. Rather than editing the post and deleting people's comments it gives the initial poster an opportunity to start fresh. As Mark had posted, if he is to voice a complaint publicly it should be after having attempted to resolve the issue privately and it should not be slander. Instead of Saying "I hate ... because they have crap service" it would be much better to give specifics on the matter. I also had a bit more insight into the matter (which I won't discuss in public) and the original poster really didn't have much grounds for criticizing Mardy.
Im not sure if only having the parties involved comment on a beef thread is the right way to go but the threads should be more professional.
