Harrison Lake West - Washout

I just came back from a camping trip up to Harrison Lake. We tried to get to Skookumchuck hotsprings coming from the South but it didn't workout so well. There was a washout around the 30km mark. We probably could have made it but without a rescue vehicle it didn't seem worthwhile. We explored another trail that ended up having too many 'dips' in the road on which I would scrape my radiator guards so we gave up on that and returned to a campsite at the 25km mark which was free and had a beautiful view of the lake. Surprisingly for a long weekend there weren't many people there and apart from about 10 shots fired nearby it was quite quiet as well.

PS - how do you hold those jerry cans down (they're red but I assume they've got diesel in them?)?

What time did you go ?
We went up there (south entrance) and came out at Mt Currie on saturday.
Hit the washout around 1pm. Didn't see you !

I was at the washout around 3:30 I believe so I must have just missed you. The Jerry cans are held in by a roof rack, tied down with bungee cords and locked with a cable lock.

did you see my tire tracks ? Being a long wheelbase I pushed a lot of gravel like a wheelbarrow !

I saw some tire tracks, I assumed they were a Suzuki sidekick or something with a shorter wheelbase to get over that. Did you beach yourself at all? I know my friends couldn't do it in their full sized trucks with 12" lifts

I can imagine. I would have loved to see that! I think the Delica's wheelbase would have been fine for doing it but it would have been sketchy. Did you have a second vehicle with you?

Well I came back with leaky calipers (not a result of the offloading), lost the plastic caps for my radiator guards and bent my license plate holder.
