Hi all, I recently bought a 94 delica with a 2.8 diesel. I woke this morning to find it had dumped most of its oil on my driveway!!.
After a quick check it appears to be coming from the bell housing area!. Has my rear seal let go or has something else happened??
Thanks, Scaly

Going to have to step back and give something more realistic.............. "most of its oil" would fully coat most driveways............. without cleaning and checking, bellhousing/rear main area comment is bung and rear main will not do much (if any) static leaking over night, just residual drips. A leaky oil filter can coat that rear area quite thouroughly.

Wipe it up, have a close look, be more realistic about quantity and the boys here will probably have it narrowed down in no time (usually)

x2 on what lopar said. clean the oil and check.

common issue = leaking from the rear 1/2 moon seal on the valve cover.

Just cleaned down the engine & is definately dripping ( running) out of bell housing drain slot. I am not kidding about the amount of oil
on the ground... it is running down my drivway!! The dipstick does not have a reading on it, I think its just about all gone.
I was wondering if dropping the gearbox/ transfer will get me to the rear seal, or does the motor have to come out ?
I have never seen this happen on such major scale considering it has not leaked a drop before!

That still sounds like a lot of volume for a rear main seal............. in a driveway anyway........

I am going to have to bounce back a x2 to jfarsang (with respect to rear half moon on valve cover) if it "appears" to be coming from bellhousing area.

Are we talking about while vehicle is running or just sitting there? Rear main, and valve cover should not leak unless running (pressure/splash required).........

Hate to say it, but clean it up again (painstakingly thoroughly) and have another look. Lots of work for a rear main, I highly recommend verification before you move forward on that one............

Is your driveway level or are you facing up hill?
Is it continuously leaking even if you have not ran it or does it only leak shortly after you park?

Anymore info or pics will help

I had the car up on ramps & pressure cleaned every thing I could. The oil started dripping from the drain hole again after I shifted the car.the oil is running down the inspection plate and behind the inspection plate
Yes i have a sloped driveway but it is parked on the street as well. Maybe the seal has disintegrated completely, anyway ive got the shits and am going to start pulling it down. cross member, gearbox, bell housing see what i find.
Thanks , Scaly
