Hi all I have a Frost Plug I need to get installed on my Pajero 2.8L 4M40 engine

I found a thread on this forum saying that it's on the right side of the engine but the pictures are so freakin small in the thread that I can't tell the location. Right side looking back at the vehicle from the front, or right side looking the same direction as the vehicle is facing!?

I just want to be able to tell the shop where it is, not installing it myself.

I'm guessing it is a block heater you want to install, in the frost plug hole. It is the right rear one that you use for this. Directions are always given as if sitting in the drivers seat.

ok on the right hand side of the engine...but where? The part I have does not show me where it is because it's not specifically made by mitsubishi...

and yes it's an engine block heater that fits into the frost plug

it's the last frost plug at the rear of the turbo-side engine.

note: I've replaced it three times and it never gets easy. If you are a 'large' person, you can forget doing it. You have to get 1/2 your body into the engine bay. I'm not kidding.

Unlike L300, An engine block heater for L400 is not desirable mainly for this reason.

It will be good to install lower radiator coolant heater for L400 (Need to replace a lower radiator hose at the same time. )
Very simple, and no problem after installation.

Just my opinion.

Probably loose clamp connection or cracked hose.
When it comes to bleeding, warm up the van up to the operating temperature, and open the nut (circled in red) until coolant comes out. The nut is made of plastic, so do not over-torque it when you tighten it. Be careful of the hot coolant as well.

Same engine, which means the plug is going to be in the same difficult-to-install position.

it's easier on the Pajero. Not by much though.

the "last" frost plug on the turbo side of the engine...

like how far back are we talking here, like right back near the firewall? Well, not sure if it's called a firewall, but right at the back of the engine compartment, like, against dashboard area? if so I think I'll be taking parts of the engine off tomorrow to find it...

You'll need to remove the airbox pipes and intercooler

I bought some antifreeze and distilled water to refill the system thinking it would be a very simple procedure.

The instructions say that I need to drain the coolant system, is this true? Or can I just replace the plug? Or if I take the existing plug out will a bunch of fluid come out?

The mechanics in this area are not familiar with JDM vehicles at all...since I'm not so good with cars would be it better maybe to locate where the frost plug goes and go to the shop and get them to install it...and show them where the plug goes? I really don't want to screw anything up on my vehicle...
