This really is not Delica related except---- I did drive out to the lake in my Delica. I read in the paper the other day about a ruby grapefruit colored lake near Kamloops. It is apparently 1 of fewer than 10 in the world. It is caused by a bacteria bloom as a result of no dissolved oxygen. The pictures give an idea of what it looks like but it looks really weird standing beside it. I took a sample and as you can see it really is a pinky color. It's easy to get to on the old Barnhartvale road going towards Vernon.

Is it like that year-round, or is it just a recent flare-up?

It's always a little off, but it's currently way pinker than usual. It's due to a sulphur synthesising bacteria that doesn't like oxygen. The lake was recently measured with exactly ZERO dissolved oxygen, from the surface, right down to the bottom. The lake has a very small inflow and no outflow.
