Hi everyone.
I just thought i would share some info with you guys about a issue that i just had.
To start off i should tell you that my wife and i are foster parents, we take in children while the system trys to place them with family or a addoptive family. The reason why im telling you this is because you can not have ward or foster kids in a rhd. there is a insurance add on that you must have for them to be in your car or truck. No insurance company that i have found will offer this on a rhd. Our case worker made me feel like hitler for having the kids (mine and foster) in my pajero when we went to west edmonton mall. Up untill that point i did not even know i needed this insurance so i didnt have it on the wifes van. So we had to stay over night in edmonton untill we could get the insurasnce together. So anyway now you know, now i know.... I went out and bought a ford freestyle and now have the insurance in place. but i dont know what to do with the pajero, i dont want to sell it....
i cant drive it most of the time.... I dont have room for it. its a dark time

This is not currently an issue in BC.

I'm glad to know that. I'm a teacher in Alberta and have the paperwork done to drive kids, but have been reluctant to take a team anywhere because of having a RHD. Definitely won't be now.

Can you say specifically what this requirement is and who specifically said you needed it?
If you're covered for full insurance I don't see what difference the occupant's background makes?

Try Cooperator's insurance. They are an Albertan company and underwrite their own business, which means they are more flexible than the national companies.

Just got off the phone with Tracey! She told that inspections are needed... Crap! Especially out of province. I was a little early to the gate..

I will have to ask my wife what the exact name of the extra insurance is. Its S.b.somthing.
my wife delt with it for me. (I was a little upset and didnt want to take it out on the poor girl on the other end of the phone). I will talk to her tonight and post the exact name of it.

"S.B.Insurance" sounds more like B.S.Insurance

Ok so what it is, is S.B. as a add on to your insurance all S.B. stands for is small business.
they say that its because that in a way you get paid to transport the children. So the Alberta gov says the insurance is a must. And thats why its hard to get the insurance. Still dosn't seam rite to me, but who the hell am I to say otherwise. Anyway i put my pajero up for sale and she sold out of edmonton in about 15 min. So the parts truck will be going with the daily driver. sad to see it go but at the same time happy about my new ride its a crossover, I'll still be looking in every 1s and a while.
