I just had mine done by Mardy; ordered the new core through Steven at Rising Sun cost $304 and it's genuine Mitsubishi.
The other option is John at Rocky Mountain Imports; he can order one for you as well.
Unfortunately, we tried one that was re-cored from Cameron in Coombs, but as soon as it was under pressure it leaked at the elbow.
The job is 5-6 hours to do, so I don't know if you want to take a chance on a used one.

Cheers,

Joe

I don't think you will get hold of Mardy for the next 10 days or so, as he was leaving for Japan and the Phillipines to source and pick up some parts.
Maybe send him an email to info@amazingautoimports.com as he checks this when out of town; ask him to pick one up for you while he is there.

If you are going to do the labour yourself you could pull it out and have it reconditioned. I had one custom built for my 1963 Willys and it wad under $300.00.

Last one I bought for a 1990s Ford F350 was $22.00 new.....

heating issues are there is no heat coming from either heating sourse.... had a local garage the other day do an apparent flush they said that it was blowing good heat at one point then all of a sudden stopped and as some garages they said " they recommend heater core replacement" ahhh yes they want their $$$$ so any how went to another place and had them flush the whole system and NOTHING..... so now $360 dollars later no heat.... Was reasonably pissed at this point so went indoor climbing to get rid of my anger it worked tried some harder routs :-D So now what, like a good trades person ( plumber )I try to do it properly. and always you know what we say " if you want the job done wright do it your self "... so within 2 minutes in my undies and sandles standing in a pile of snow hood open found the supply and return of the heater core, was behind the battery which took the shop all F*CKING day to find or so they said... now must go to cdn tyre get the bits remove battery and have at it.... and then if this works a phone call will be had... :-D

I have a hunch that's the wrong location for you water hoses. On mine those were AC hoses. They look so alike, both wrapped with insulation. Look more to center, high on the firewall There are 2 hoses with clamps on them.

Did you change your thermostat?? Do that first.

PS try using punctuation, it's easier to read.

Neither heater core making heat???

1. how hot is the engine? If the engine is not hot it cannot warm the cores. Thermostat opening?

2. search recent threads and the fancy L400 with climate control have an electric motor that switches from cold to hot...most likely the issue. Disconnect the electric motor and manually try it.

3. Does the L400 have a coolant valve in the hoses that prevents flow if on cold. pull up the heating system diagram in the downloads section.

4. Does not sound like heater cores to me. both not working. 2 flushes should clean them.

well thank bloody god.... thanks all for your sugestions.... i replaced the thermostat a while ago..... so the eingne is warm enough.... well took the inlet and outlet hoses off blew the old water out and filled with CLR let sit a while whilst I mucked about with the rear hoses, with a few panicked choice words and a mouthful of coolant later got the thing working..... the rear had good coolant but not to warm but it has heat.... the front has really good heat it gets quite hot now bout bloody time I say lol think i'm going to make a call to the shop who did the work and have a few words.... thanks again for the sugestions..... cheers....
