Within a week of pick up and new front brakes and rotors, Ive had an on and off brake squeal. The other issue was a 4x4 banging in the front, only at my property on a steep dirt incline switching from stand still to 4wd the front end clicks but does not engage and when it does i here a bang or thud in the front, driving in reverse does not stop the problem? I happened to be going to van so I visited Japanoid, no squeak as much as i tried, no squeak and on a small patch of dirt on a typical New West hill no 4wd problems? but both issues still exist. My new problem is typical with my ford farm truck, but the Delica does it every 5th time ish, it will not start unless i wiggle the shifter in Park, sometimes with the button in. Thank you for your ideas and or help, Ross

Hi, Part of the problem with a 15 year old van with very low kms is that they have normally sat for very long periods of time. so the parts dont get lubricated, seals dont stay moist and some parts start to stick to each other. for your 4x4 I am guessing that the inner and outer lock rings are sticking in the automatic hubs. very easy to re-build/re pack with new greese If no rust has formed, but also for about $150 you can get a rebuild kit or switch to Manual hubs . either way you get to re-pack the wheel bearings with greese and also the sliding lock rings that engage the outer stub shafts. If this is greek to you, then take it to where you bought it or a reputable shop, Marigold service if you in Victoria.
When you hear the bang/thud for 4x4 , are you turning the wheels to one side or the other? or driving straight?
For the shifter not starting in park unless you wiggle the shifter, you could have a problem with your neutral switch or a loose conection under your shifter or in your linkage down where they click into your trans, if you lay on the ground on the drivers side and look at your trans, FIRST block the wheels, have some one shift the gears on the van, while its not running, (so you dont get run over)and see if you have anything loose going on with the linkage rods. could just be a simple loose conection. (sounds like it)
I hope that helps you out a bit

are you sure you're not driving with the parking break on again?
