On my way to pick up our mail in Gold bridge this afternoon my window acted strangely it went down without problem but on it's way up stop half way and went down again. next try it did the same but went up one third and down again. I had to try at least 10 time until it went all the way up.
Wonder if because it is cold (-22 C) ?

Mine is doing that exact same thing too. I have noticed it more when it is really cold, not sure if that is why though. When you are getting it back up just hold the glass with your hand and lift it up when it starts to want to go back down. That is what I did to get it to go back up. Wonder if something is burning out, or going to soon.

Hi Guys,

Silicon spray on the rubber trim and seals; I actually did all the rubber in every door and hatch to moisten up the 15 year old rubber.
I even did my wipers. Don't spray it on, spray a good amount into a rag and then just rub it into the rubber components.
My window was doing the same, easy fix! Nothing to do with the motors, you're fine.

I have never looked over the electrical schematics, but I suspect there might be some doo-dad in there checking how much power it is taking to raise the window.

The idea being that if it is taking too much/the motor is stalling out, then perhaps it is because someone has their head or arm stuck in the window, so it drops back down.

In any event, lubing up the rubber/slides to let the motor work more freely is a good all around idea.

Just be very careful about Rubber Renuze or similar product with XYLENE (the magic ingredient); it basically works by dissolving the top layer of the rubber on which it is applied, and if you spill it or dribble it down inside the door, it will liquefy rubber (or paint, or...)

So be sparing with it; dab a bit on a rag and wipe on / wipe off in short order.

Hi Graig, I did the same think, holding the glass by hand and lift it up. I did work but i notice a bit ice on the rubber close to the side view mirror and that could be the problem.

Interesting..... mine started doing that this week also! I pulled it upwards and it closed.

It definitely sounds like it is a cold-related symptom.

If it persists when the weather improves (soon, I hope!) I'll try the lubrication/rubber method.

Mine has done that too... I don't use it when its really cold anymore. There's a safety built in to the motor so if its over stressed it'll reverse instead of fighting. I found giving the glass a little tug as it hit midway always got it to go up all the way.

Last summer my driver side window switch was being all upitty so I took it apart and found a little broken piece of plastic inside , about 2mm square. Blew it out and reassembled and it's been fine since.

Do you guys have the same issue with the passenger side? Funny how it's mostly the driver's side window you hear about.

After taking the whole mechanism apart (pain the arse unless you have childs hands and footlong fingers) to check for binding and check the electrical connection, the motor receives a constant 12V's even in brutally cold weather. I've chalked it up to the motor itself simply getting to the point of seizing up or close to it. Come spring/summer time, I'm going to crack it open again, clean it out and use a more cold friendly grease.

No issue with passenger side

Happens to me one in a while, and every time I just open the door (while moving) and give it a good slam shut. Works again.

I find that my delica can kind of "self-heal" itself on certain issues. Had a stuck sliding door and did more damage trying to get it unstuck then if I just left it for a few days. Works again now and I'm not sure what the real issue was.

My driver side window has done this since later summer after a four hour logging road trip. Tempature never seemedto make a difference. I took my door apart & blew it out, no luck. I applied fire arm lube on the rubber today. I'd been told this was a short term fix. Ill let ya'all know if it works.

I imagine the driver's side window gets used a lot more; hence wears out/dirties up quicker.
