Kelowna to Cabo San Lucas

Just thought I'd start a thread sharing my experiences from Kelowna to Cabo and everything in between. I left Kelowna December 12th and after approximately 6,400kms, have made it to Cabo San Lucas taking many side trips along the way and the Delica has gotten me access to many places that only a 4x4 can go. She ran like a dream and I discovered is the most amazing baja mobile ever. Not only is it an amazing conversation piece but at every army check point they only want to know about the van with big smiles and let you go right through with no dramas. Also being right hand drive you can see the shoulder exactly when big trucks are coming at you and you have to move over on the extremely narrow roads. I wouldn't want to have any other vehicle for this reason alone! Can't even believe people drive motorhomes down here, it's insanely narrow in sections!

I will be adding photos over the next while but here's one to start.

You said it! I was down there in the 90's in a Tercel - and remember some white knuckle moments on those narrow roads. One time, a Semi came barreling past us, and whoosh! The crappy roof rack I had with spare fuel and a spare tire blew right of the top of the car!

I'd love to go down again in my Deli. Your pics look amazing - can't wait to see more.

Good times. I used to go down for weeks-months at a time before I bunkered down in Van. Things keep growing/changing in the big towns but the small off the beat areas are stuck in a time warp. Never changing.

Enjoy & safe travels 8-)

Great pixs man. Looks like you are living the good life down there. Love the pixs of the Sea of Cortez so beautiful there. I will have to go back some day. I drove my truck and camper down and only remember the roads being really rough.

Hi Vanermi,

I like your style of photography, those are stunning photos.
I fully understand what you mean about knowing how close to the edge on can go.

Do you have any more photos to share? You take fabulous pix.

sweet photos. and a little jog down memory lane.
however, i did not always favour the right side drive down there on those narrow roads, sure it was great knowin how close you could go to the edge of the road, but when being stuck behind 18 wheeler goin 30 kms/hr and trying to over take it :o :o :o :o :o skid marks weren't just left on the road a couple times.
