BC ferries ripped off my rain gutters!

So last Friday I picked up a roof rack from Maximum Overdrive in Richmond. Love it. Yesterday I let my wife fill the Deli with a bunch of her classmate and take it to a conference in Vancouver... So she is loading on the Ferry and bumps the hight restriction pole... The ferry workers give her shit when she stops and wave her on board... Well my new rack is bent and my rain gutters are done... I've used craftsman collision for my other vehicles. Any recommendations for body shops in Victoria? Has anyone had to track down new gutters?

Meh...

BC Ferries is still investigating liability...

Give Coombs Country Auto a call for the gutters,
250-954-2157.
BC Ferries will usually pay for such things.

Good Luck! 8-)

When you drive thru the ticket gates at BCF, there are electric eyes overhead to check for overheight vehicles. If they put you in the wrong loading lane, that's clearly their mistake.

Also keep your ticket stub, if BCF get pissy about paying for it, they should be able to track down the exact time/ticket gate you passed through to confirm that you were overheight (everything's stored on their network AFAIK).

You wouldn't have been charged extra for overheight (they only go by length now) but they should keep you on the lower decks.

Also, depending on where your wife hit an over head pole and stopped, she may or may not be on camera, which might have been recorded. Again, if there are any doubts about them paying for it, as for a review of camera footage showing your vehicle (both the terminals and the ferries have cameras where loading occurs).

If she filed a report on the boat that should be enough.

Turns out they where in the wrong lane... So the title of this thread may not be accurate...

Tracked down gutter moldings from Malahat motors. Hopefully MO will sell me new feet for the roof rack.

Any paint suggestions?

Thanks again for the feedback

A tree did that to my l300 when I was backing up on a tight logging road. It grew out over the road.

No cameras present luckily.

Hate those trees but easier to deal with than BC F.

my father in law hit the ceiling of the 'tunnel' on the texada ferry.. they paid for the damage. sometimes when loading a stock height deli on the horseshoe bay-langdale ferry, they send me to the lanes that load the upper decks, i learned my first day, with my then new deli, when traveling with BCDelica/kevin to ignore their instructions and bear left to load downstairs with the truckers

I swear some of the attendants do it on purpose. The sensor beeps. The attendant has eyes and can see yet still sends you along with the car pack. Ari's approach is the best. Follow the rigs.
