2.5" exhaust: modify/replace waste-gate or dump pipe??

Search hasn't revealed anything so...
Simple question:
Can it just be left as is or will waste-gate have to be modified, replaced or addressed in any way for my 4M40 to benefit from upgrading to 2.5" exhaust?
Same question for dump pipe.
Thanks.

Wastegate can be left as is for an exhaust upgrade, wastegate mods are for a different goal. Benefits of bigger exhaust are faster turbo spool up and lower EGTs. Once you have an upgraded exhaust then you have more room to play with upping the boost (either by a controller or shimming/modding the wastegate) since the waste gases can get the hell out of dodge quicker...
I did a 2.5" exhaust with hiflow muffler, ~$700, not a huge noticable seat of the pants result like when I did the same on my Hilux Surf but it did give off a deeper more pleasing sound and I can hear the whistle of teh turbo better. Also seemed to get ~1L/100km better fuel ecconomy afterwards according to Fuelly. In comparison on my Surf the before/after differences were quite dramatic so I guess the stock L400 exhaust isn't nearly as restrictive as that of the Surf.
I don't think I had any of my gauges or boost controller installed before doing the exhaust so I do not have any numbers on before/after EGTs etc. On my Surf I did have gauges installed before doing the exhaust and in partucular how quickly boost built up was dramatic. Stock exhaust boost would build over a few seconds once rpms hit ~2000, 2.5" exhaust boost was almost instant with the movement of teh gas pedal and would build at ~1500rpm. On my L400 with 2.5" exhaust the boost builds in a similar manner almost instantly to 5-7psi with even a light touch of the pedal and tops out almost as instantly with a hard push of teh pedal. Wish I knew what it was like before modding the exhaust to compare.

Thanks for the info.
Did you have a bigger dump pipe installed at the same time on the L400? If not, I wonder if that wouldn't give even better results. I was reading a bit on the Aus site about this where some say not to bother with the bigger exhaust unless you change the dump pipe at same time. Kind'a makes sense actually but the dump pipe is really pricey.

A larger dump is supposed to be moar better but it is hard to find a any place that will make you a 3" dump pipe and if you can find them pre-made they tend to be insanely priced. From what I read on both Delica and Hilux forums the bigger dump is great if you can get it made cheap, but not a deal breaker if you cannot get it, the exhaust all at 2.5" is still very good.
My own opinion on the L400 is a larger exhaust is still beneficial as is, and if you plan to do any modding of the boost/fuelling/intercooler/propane injection etc etc it is not a must but strongly recommended since the exhaust is a big piece of the full picture. But if you are not going to do some playing around and are leaving things pretty much stock I think the money spent on a larger exhaust could bring more joy spent on other goodies.
On the Hilux the stock EGTs can get dangerously high with everyday Canadian driving so a bigger exhaust is pretty much a must, the L400 doesn't have that issue so a bigger exhaust is more of a luxury.
