Coombs Country Autos or CVI - Trip Planning

Hey you guys.
I am just planning a trip this summer and we will be driving from here (Leduc) to Tofino and back and I am thinking about having my Delica tuned up and just given a check up. My options are CVI on our way through or returning, and Coombs on the island (we will be staying in Tofino for a week so I could make a day trip and see some goats while waiting

) Does Glenn at Coombs offer something like the Deli-tune at CVI? I am unsure of what to do and they both seem to be very reputable businesses that can take care of Delicas. Coombs would be easiest as it is on our route, but I don't know if they offer a tune up service. CVI is not on the route and would probably require some rescheduling as we would be arriving back in Van on a Saturday so it would probably add a day or 2 to the trip (I can hear my wife frowning- you get what I mean if you are married

). Advice? Pros - Cons? Feel free to PM me if you want.

From what I hear you can't go wrong with either (I love CVI but haven't tried Coombs). I would go with Coombs though if it's the easiest for you. That said, I don't know if they offer a deli-tune.

they are both very reputable deli service shops. i have worked only with Coombs, mainly because it is geographically convenient, but i have only good reports. Coombs can do a tune to the deli that is not called the CVI Deli Tune and costs less. Plan that day to explore Rathtrevor Prov Park or Horne LAke caves or something.. they have a loaner car

I have no experience with CVI but have heard only good things. I have had my bus maintained at Coombs since they did the off the boat refit over 4 years ago and am very happy with the service - I highly recommend them as a place to have your deli serviced / tuned / fixed.

Thanks for the replies guys! I have to admit that I am leaning a bit towards Coombs because I will be there on the island, and our timeline of the trip will not have to be extended. I did notice you all have L300's though. I have an L400 so does their experience still apply, or does it even matter? I would like to have a few nagging issues solved, most likely through the tune-up.
I wish their new website was up.

Thanks for reviving this thread- I forgot to update.
I ended up taking it to Coombs. They were swamped with a new inventory of vehicles arriving and emergency services so it took a little while longer than I had hoped- BUT, that said, they did an absolutely fabulous job! They tuned my IP, tightened the kickdown cable, installed my new exhaust (new to me, thanks Kuan), and attempted to fix the ABS light but it stumped them so they offered to fix it for free next time I am around because it drove them so nuts! They also provided me with tons of sage advice and a little bit of a shop tour. They are probably the most knowledgable mechanics when it comes to delicas that I have ever met face to face. They walked me through everything done, everything that should be done in the near future, and sold me some of the most top quality parts I have purchased yet (The NGK CY 55 plugs are my favorite investment). The van runs absolutely amazing! It was definately a good choice and I would highly recommend them for any Delica work and I would also recommend that they open a shop here in Edmonton! I wish they were closer.
Thanks Glenn and Graham, and all others who recommended them from this thread.

Thats great to hear. I have been dealing with them and getting parts from them for the last few months. Super nice guys to deal with.
Im hoping in the next month or two to take a road trip out from edmonton as well and get some tuning done.

If you're on the Island, you gotta stop at Coombs Country Auto.
