Greetings & question

Post by Delicampervan »

Hello,

So, here I am breaking my delica.ca virginity. Hello to all the distinguished Delica owners and thank you to all who have posted information, as I have already used this site for guidance on more than a few occasions. I've owned my L300 high roof since November and I really dig it.

I just have one question. Should I be waving to all the other L300 owners that I pass by on the road??

Because... I do.

Is that a thing?! Do some l300 owners NOT wave at the l400's, and vice versa? I'm a simple idiot I guess, I wave any delica I see :-) Both are amazing vehicles in my opinion.

I try to wave or flash at all Delicas. Sometimes I will give a "hang ten" to a Hiace or a Figaro, or Skyline &c.. I wave at Paj's, too.

The "Delica Wave" is shaping your hand like a victory sign (V) but with an extended thumb, figuratively resembling the Mitsumaple with the three protruding digits.

Welcome to Delica Canada, Adam :M

It can be considered an obscene gesture in the UK and Oz land :-D Careful how you use your 'digits'

We all wave to each other Adam. All makes and shapes of JDM's.

V for victory sign is not considered in anyway obscene in either the UK or in Australia and by extending the thumb makes it even less so.

I think what Jesse might be referring to is the "Two Finger Salute", a hand gesture where you display the backside of your index and middle fingers, which more or less means "up yer kilt", although the original gesture being a symbol of defiance and meaning: "I have my two fingers to draw my bow". This hand gesture is derived from the Battle Of Agincourt where the British fought against overwhelming odds to achieve a major victory over the French during the Hundred Years' War. This was made possible by implementing the armour piercing weapon, the long bow which literally decimated the French army on the field of battle that day. After that battle the french are allegedly reported to have chopped the fingers off of any British persons that they caught, hence "I have my two fingers to draw my bow".

P.S.: Here's a link to an on line article about this matter. Not sure how accurate it is but is certainly entertaining: http://gypsyjulesinmysoul.blogspot.ca/2 ... -bird.html
