I need a IP rebuild in SK or AB

My pump was dumping diesel on wed, so I drove the subaru,
now today (friday) I go to figure it out and presto.. no leak?

Weird.

The IP pump is wet at the top from the previous deluge. I figure it's
time for a rebuild at 200k since it's treating me well.

Problem is there is no trustworthy place in SK to do them without it costing
a fortune for trial and error.

So, I can easily drive to Edmonton or Calgary. Who? to take it to?
I can't spare the time to drive to CVI unfortunately.
I want a complete rebuild, might as well get the main crank seal replaced
since it's leaking at the same time. (I have the parts for that)

He did my belts/rad etc just before I bought it. He is not cheap, but he is very thorough. He also did some other work for me after I bought it. He is the only guy I know in Edmonton that specializes in these. Get a quote!

He has done some work for me and I agree totally with Spearo- very thorough but very expensive. I had my Injectors rebuilt and some other odds and ends. Look into supplying all your parts because they were very costly for my repairs, when they shouldn's have been if I sourced them out myself. Lesson learned. I think he has a huge knowledge for the L300's. Great guy and I am sure he would give you a quote. Nobody else in Edmonton that knows much about our rigs... although some pretend to (Apex).

IP's are heaps specialized and generally a rebuild is beyond most regular mechanics - like a transmission, most farm those things out to shops that focus on IP's. You may be able to buy one that's been rebuild from CCA or CVI or Amazing Autos etc. and trade for you worn out one.

It can be tough to find the right place outside of Vancouver. Being in Nova Scotia has made it tough for me too and I have really studied these things so I can do the work for some things myself. That being said I always buy my parts from rising sun in new westminster. The only guys I trust to actually sell me the right parts and at a good price. Honest and straight forward. They do IP rebuilds. Generally you just send them the part and they will send a rebuild back to you. That way you won't get ripped off by paying someone else to get it or rebuild. Best to go with someone that knows what they are doing IMO! They have shipped me a lot of parts over the years. Here is a link to there service.

Looks like I will buy a complete refurbished one and have a local(ish) shop put it in.
Less down time than having a shop send it away and it will be done right.

And the main crank shaft seal and...

If you don't mind me asking, where did you decide to get your refurbed one from? Coombs? Did you have to send back your old one (core charge)?

Both cvi and Coombs offer an ip. Haven't decided which although I'm sure they both have complete excellent refurbished units. Cvi does offer a core return.

Keep me posted when you make up your mind. My magic 8-ball has helped me realize that it is most likely in my future. Well, that and Coombs really wanted to overhaul my pump (time wouldn't permit it though). They may know a little bit more than my 8-ball, but it is close. :-)

Manitobadeli ( Jason ) will come to Saskatoon on Monday ( Sep09 ) to pick up wrecked L300 from SGI.
He knows how to take off/put back IP and has done so many times.
You definitely save money than regular mechanic shops or other IP rebuilt shop over there and get a benefit to let professional delica mechanic do it.
It won’t take long to finish all jobs. You can send IP to your favorate shop in westcoast for complete rebuilt.
Shop can return IP next day by express/priority mail.

If you are in AB, SK or MB, ask Jason/manitobadeli for help.
He will be happy to help you at reasonable cost, and he does other maintenance jobs you need at the same time.
His email address is jandl@mymts.net

Yep, I'm going to be there tomorrow, just got your email James, forgot to give you my number though. I'll PM it to you. I don't know if I can do the IP for you tomorrow, but I could definetly plan for another day. Also some other maintenance items you might want to consider doing at the same time.

Working out great timing wise.
Going to have Jason install the stuff this weekend.

Looking forward to a few less leaks... diesel leaks, oil leaks, rear wheel seal leaks...

Followup!
I ended up getting ManitobaDeli to do the work on my van.
Redid all the front seals, belts etc since it was a while since the last timing belt change.
The IP pump - purchased a rebuilt one from Rising Sun. I did call around and the deciding
factor was that Steven had a Manual Tranny IP pump there (so we wouldn't need to change
the bracket and other stuff over), good prompt service/pricing over the phone with RSI
and good communication through email.

Jason had the new stuff into the van in a day (did it on saturday) and helped me source out
some electrical bugs in my lighting and other fun stuff. He also educated me in the way of the
drum brake where I installed my own brakes. I've done disc brakes lots but never drums.
There was a slight leak in one of the new seals sunday morning and he was exactly what I wanted
in a mechanic... 'lets get it back here and look' attitude. I was heading home soon enough!

It was a good time. His family was very welcoming and kind.
He had offered to drive to Saskatoon to do the work but I figured it would be worth the drive
to see him and have his tools/hoist exactly where he works.
I will definitely recommend him and RSI to everyone who asks.

PM me if you want more info.
Firesong
p.s. No more leaks!!
