Power Antenna

Hi all,

I broke the power antenna when I went 4x4'ing last week. It bent backwards and when I went to bend it back it broke. None of the internal stuff is broken, just the mast itself. at the base of the antenna.

So I got a generic replacement from Canadian Tire but from my understanding I need to take the fender off to get at this piece to replace it.

I found the 3 screws at the top of the fender in the engine bay, and the one screw visible when opening the passenger side door, but what else do I need to take off to get the fender off? I'm kind of in a jam here cause I need to leave soon and want to get this done.

I thought I found 1 screw in the wheel well at the front at the very bottom but other than that I can't see anything else.

Any help?

Forgot to mention I have a 1996 SWB V26 pajero

On the LWB you need to remove the inner (plastic)part of the fender, you will need to remove the wheel first for easier access.

On the SWB it should be the same repair - remove the inner plastic wheel well and you should be able to access the antenna motor from there. It'll be awkward, but you shouldn't have to remove the whole fender.

Ah ok the big black plastic thing on the inside of the fender. Gotcha I'll try that when I get back home.

Does anyone happen to have any experience with taking this unit out?

The other day I got in there and took the inner black plastic off the fender and found the electrical antenna unit bolting points inside the fender.

I undis these 2 bolts and tried to pull the unit out but it wouldn't budge. How do I get the thing out of there...? Is there some other screw or bolt up near the top part of the antenna or some other bolt I'm not seeing? This plastic shrouding is a real pain in the ass to get back one but I didn't want to be driving around with it off, so I had to put it back on without being able to replace my antenna...

Does anyone have another suggestion thats maybe easier for wiring up the antenna of my aftermarket head unit? I'm thinking about just getting a basic antenna wire or something and just running it up through the dash, pillar side panels, up into the roof or whatever. Unless I can just install one of those twangy regular type antennas instead of the telescopic one? I hate those things anyway.

Thanks

I have experience but I just ripped it out and hammered the metal back into roughly the position it was in before. This works but looks pretty poor.
