I've been driving my L400 for a bit now, and still haven't quite figured out some of the gizmoes in it:
1: The compass doesn't read anything. I think I read somewhere you hold the "S" button down for a second or 2 and then drive in a couple tight circles to calibrate it? Does it matter if you turn right or left or what direction you start or finish?
2: How do I change between inside temp and outside temp? Not that I really care about inside temp.
3: There are 3 defrost/defog buttons. One right near the heater controls (The van has digital climate control) One on the bezel right below the heater controls, and it looks like another one right on the dash, behind the shifter (rocker switch looking style) I'm assuming one is for heated defrost elements in the windows, but not sure about the other 2?
4: There is a button on the dash, which I can't read anymore. The previous owner told me it hold the transmission is it's current gear or something? What is the purpose of that?
Thanks for any help!
Too many buttons on the dash. What do they all do?

1) I can't remember the direction, but last time I did it I was turning hard to the left. Press and hold until it blinks, then drive in circles until it works. If it does not, press and hold until blinking, and turn the other way. This takes about 15 seconds or so. Find a good parking lot.
2) Not sure. You should see the setting on the digital console... I don't even know if it is actually possible to see it on that part of the display. I think you can only see what you want it to be, and what it actually is outside, but not what it is inside right now... But I could be wrong. (I think this is possible on the Pajero, but not possible on the L400...)
3) Probably, rear window. Front Window (wiper area), and direct air at window. But this is just a guess without a photo. Lots of Delica's have extra stuff added aftermarket.
4) If you press it down, you should see "hold" appear in yellow on the dash. Press it up you should see a yellow "PWR".
-- Hold; does not engage first gear, starts you in second gear always.
-- PWR; changes computers shifting across all gears. Allows for higher RPMs before shifting gear.
Basically "power" is for accelerating really fast. "Hold" is for low traction areas where you don't want wheel spin - so you start off in second gear.
Don't drive in "PWR" often unless you like a higher fuel bill.

For the compass I found with mine if you just push and hold until it goes all "Knight Rider" on you and then just drive your normal route it will eventually calibrate itself. Although burning donuts in a parking lot does sound fun.

Mitsubishi is the king of buttons. They have a button for everything. I remember the mid 90s NA spec Montero SR, there was nothing but buttons on the center console. The GTO/3000GT was the same; buttons everywhere. There was even a button for the fine selections of exhaust "sounds". You almost need Chewbacca to ride shotgun with you to control all that.

3. The rocker switch is for the wiper blade defrost/deicer on the front windshield. If you don't have the strips on the windshield, then the windshield was likely replaced at some point with a lower end model (the defrost equipped ones are very expensive). The one on the bezel below heater controls is for rear window. Other is your normal everyday front windshield air defrost.
