So I went to crappy tire today and grabbed some led lights to use as DRLs but before I bought them I asked their service if they would pass a vehicle hard wiring led to run as DRLs. He seemed to be puzzled I told him audi now uses led and so are other companies.but he said you can only use a module switch to wire the headlights as DRLs, at this point I was getting quite irritated.as there is no way they would pass it my way.so I finally said screw it and stormed out of there. Now am I the idiot or is crappy tire just a waste of my valuable time for service .... I'm from south side Edmonton just looking for a good jdm inspector to pass my 97 Delica series 2 chamnoix.

The first problem is taking anything to Crappy Tire. I got mine inspected at Atlas Auto on 51st and 109th. Mardy wired up the LED DRL strips and is always willing to give advice if you can get ahold of him so he can point you in the right direction. Walmart sells the LED strips and they have even better ones than when I got mine. I bought a set and plan to change them out this summer.

You can see them in this pic:

Don't EVER go to Cantire for a safety. They are notorious for being beyond by-the-book. They will look for the slightest excuse to fail you such as a small crack in a rear tail-light or whatever. DRL *are* supposed to go off when the main headlights are turned on, so it is true that it is best to use a module or a cheap relay (you can wire a relay in the circuit so it opens when the headlights are turned on). The lights are also supposed to say DOT on them, depending on where you go for safety they may or may not check for this.
