Temporarily closing shop

Post by Manitoba deli »

Like the title says, I'm temporarily closing shop. I'm going in for my knee replacement surgery tomorrow. I'm expecting to be up and running (walking anyways) and in the shop again in 3 weeks. The doctors are very optimistic that I'll have a rapid recovery as I'm still under 40 (for a few months). I'm expecting to be on here more while I'm under house arrest. Thanks to everyone for their prayers and support.

Hey, you take care! Get healed up soon!

But, if you are going under the knife for knees, then why not get the full treatment. Upgrade to rancho 9000 knees, to better handle the load, maybe some airbags in the heels for stability. I would not go with the stock feet either, upgrade those to at least size 31.

Been in touch with MD, he's doin' alright, 'though still dealing with pain. Should be coming home before too long. He asked me to extend his heart felt thanks for all the moral support and kind thoughts he's received from the members of DC.

Just a bit of an update, still on the road to recovery, but about 2 weeks behind what I was hoping for. Thanks Falco for passing the last update on for me. My pain is receding now, but for a couple weeks, it was so intense, I could not concentrate long enough to even convey my thanks to everyone for their support and kind wishes. Thanks hardly seems like enough to express my gratitude to everyone who has sent me pm's, texts, emails and phone calls. You guys are great. Its like having a whole other family. I can honestly say that I am truly blessed with great friends, near and far.

Hi Jason, sound like yr knee surgury was more painful than mine. For pain, I found naproxin 220mg (Aleve) worked well, along with a Robax (the purple box which includes a muscle relaxant--look for generic at half the price), and heat pads (cold makes my muscles ache). Take Care. Send us a big list of boat stuff you like, as we will be at the Boatshow Feb 7 to 11, so can pester other dealers to find info and pricing (and can kick the tires for you). cheers christine.

Temporarily closing shop

Post by delicat »

Getting better yet? My father in-law got his knee surgery not long ago and he commented about the pain. He said if he had known he would have put up with his bad knee! So good to hear you're getting better! My in-law is doing a lot of stretching and physio, surprisingly he's recovering faster than anticipated... So keep on recovering and use the down time to be spoiled by your friends ;)

Cheers

Definitely no shortage of cold here this last week, but I do have one of the cooling machines going. It is a Godsend. Lets you keep the joint cooled 24/7. I did make it out of the house today to go to church with the family, and while it was great to get out and see my friends, it was quite exhausting, and my knee swelled up considerably. A few hours on the cooling machine took care of that though. Been stretching and flexing all I can bear, and if I can get another 15 degrees sometime this week, I'll attempt climbing on the tractor and feeding my sheep myself. If not, I'm gonna rig up some kind of a hand clutch. I don't mind being laid up that much, since its winter, but my internet has now been temperamental, and when I do finally get connected, It takes about an hour to reply to all the emails and pm's. It's really given me a chance to get to know alot of people on a more personal level. I am sure glad I was able to make it to the meet back in November, as it gave me a chance to meet so many of you and to have a face to put to the names. Thanks again to everyone.
