Hello Fellow Deli Drivers,

Just got back from Alberta. Had a helluva time getting Yoko fired up in the -2 celcius morning weather. Lots of battery power and perseverance paid off. My throttle control doesn't operate, I wonder if it's been disconnected for some reason. No troubles out here on the Wet Coast with morning starts.

For those of you living in Colder Climates what are your suggestions. Different Oil, block heaters? I will be travelling into the colder regions again, would love some feedback.

Do you wait for your glow plugs first? I have never had a problem at all at -2 and I don't think you should. Are your glowplugs working? (Its been snowing up here aleady!) I dont even plug it in unless its getting below -10. How cold of regions are you headed to? I just have a magnetic oil pan heater for now, and use a lighter oil... heck I am still using the japanese battery, so I dont think cranking power should be an issue. With that set up I can start it up till -25 for sure. For anything below that look up docsavage, he's got quite a detailed starting procedure for -30 and colder.

-2 and snowing, brrrrrrrrrr. I'm freezing here in the Canadian tropics, but I just returned from Cuba baby.

Our first had a terrible time starting even in 5c (deep winter temps here) weather with the original battery, but with a new battery those 1000 cold cranking amps spark it up right away in -12.

I always wait for the glow plug "click" I got a tip to use a magnetic heater also, using regular diesel oil at the moment, will switch to something lighter should I be heading back to Alberta when it hits -30 below and worse. Original battery is in place also I'll get it tested to determine it's condition.

hi, check the oil viscosity > temperature chart on the downloaded spec sheet on noel's site enviroimports.com, use a block heater + battery warmer + highest cca battery that will fit + NOT a deep cycle type. fast cranking is more of an issue with a diesel for starting.
