DIY installation of shocks?

Hey there,

I'm just wondering if anyone has swapped the front shocks themselves? How difficult/easy is the job? It doesn't look overly difficult but I've only had a glance under there when checking out the really bad noise coming from my driver side front shock. Seems the bottom of the shock has rusted out and has nearly torn itself off the bottom mounting. I'm not willing to drive it until it's fixed and it would be a long and expensive tow to get it out to CVI.

Thanks,
Shane

I personally wouldn't worry about driving it. I had a shock completely shear off while taking a corner, I continued to drive it like that for another 150km before getting it to the shop to have them replaced.

Replacing your own shocks is only a little more difficult than replacing a tyre.

I just did mine, first time I've ever done shocks on any vehicle, it was pretty easy. You can compress the shock by hand when you put it in with a bit of effort. I had to trim down the bottom bushing a bit to make it fit properly. Easy peasy!
