The pin-hole solution for wet floor syndrome

I posted this the other day somewhere else, but here it is on it's own thread...
Do you have a leaky bus? Checked all the usual suspect spots - headlights, widow seals etc. - and yet still have a wet floor?
The first time I had this issue was a few years ago with a Sentra. My trusted mechanic at the time drilled a tiny hole in the spare tire well. That was all he did. The wet floor issue was gone. I recently tried the same trick with my Civic, whose driver's floor was always wet and the windows chronically fogged. I drilled a tiny hole in the lowest spot on the floor and with in a few days the wet carpet and fog issue are gone.
I know this doesn't stop the water getting in, but finding and fixing that can be next to impossible. The pin-hole solution is easy and quick and cheap and delivers results!

In my series landy owning days we would leave mats out and a few holes, well, to be honest, having a non draining series landy would be a real challenge. This kept it dry, but also cut down on the rate it rusted, so while I agree in principle with a small drain hole, if you have anything on the floor, be aware of trapped water promoting rust.

The L300 already has a 1" plug at the lowpoint on either footwell, simply pull it out:)

If you live in an area where they salt the roads that leaves exposed metal which is bad news. Drill a bigger hole (1/8") and spray that sucker with rust paint or primer and paint so the exposed metal doesn't start to rust out.

..there's no exposed metal if you remove the stock plug, its painted and is also somewhat protected by the forward grills/covers. A little undercoat never hurts though, especially if I lived in the east/prarie provinces.

My girlfriends 75 mini has a bathtub plug in the floor that is pulled out for most of the winter and plugged in for the summer , never failed in use.
