Yes, this is a simple and silly cosmetic mod, very probably a repeat, but I promise, it makes the van go faster!! 
I wanted a better mounting spot for my iPhone so I snaked the connector through the back side of the ashtray, after cleaning the ashtray up (and painting it the customary white colour). Used some scotch pads to polish the rusty metal retainer, used some double sided tape to mount the dock in the ashtray and it's off to the races. It does partially block the heater controls. But I can live with that.
