Wondering how much veg oil you can safely mix in with your diesel without a conversion?
Thanks,
Colin

I've heard reports of 1/2 in the summer and 1/4 in the shoulder seasons. Others say this is too much though.

if your injection pump and injectors have been recently serviced and are in good condition, on hot days 25+ cel. people run 50/50.

Never ever have any in tank if weather will drop below 10 degrees. ie overnight, or at higher altitudes as temp drops coupla dregrees per thousand feet, or if there will be a wind-chill ie windy weather. Gelled diesel will NOT start, as too thick to go thru injectors or pump. Then you kill your battery trying to start it. Now, you light a campfire under the vehicle to warm the diesel, now your van catches fire, wow. Always carry a spare container of diesel to increase the ratio if you get a sudden rainfall, as that will drop temps instantly.
I ran mixed for several years, now I have the full separate conversion. Be certain your veg is filtered to at least 10 microns, and settled for a coupla weeks to let the water and sediments settle.
On a hot day, on a long trip with no stops for more than 20 minutes, I would run half and half, then before stopping after driving for several hours, I would fill up tank with good diesel. Usually ratio is never more than 1 third wvo.
Do use a good lubricant additive to keep engine lubricated.

Similar to what Christine said, avoid it in winter. Actually, just use it in summer months and never above 25%. That is from my experience and a lot of reading. Below +15* it gets harder on your system. The 400 seems to do a bit better than the 300 and I know people who've done it up to 50%. It will work if you don't care about long term.
Cheers
