Heading through spending a week off the Thompson highway, heading around Jasper and back home to Saskatoon.

Driving the 1998 l400 2nd gen with 2 adults and 4 kids lugging around gear, canoe and a Kamparoo (Transcontinental model) which means a crapload of food, tents and sleeping gear.

Plan to do a little fishing, hiking, geocaching, relaxing, climbing and/or rappelling etc.

We love this area! Few motor homes and 5th wheels unless they are toy haulers but they camp in the more open areas than we do. Rough camping is fantastic.

- 1 week : have kitchen all packed. Store it in a big Rubbermaid container. Have 2 of them, big tough army surplus parachute containers for the roof of the kamparoo. Packing bedding, tents, thermorests in the trailer now so it's one less last minute job.

I was wondering about space above the bed for stuff. I've got all the sleeping bags for 6 there plus extra. Under the bed are the tents and thermorests plus table and little things.

Installed my last set of LEDs on the front and set them up as DRLs. They aren't as powerful at 17 watt 1700 lumens approx

I'm not usually a fan of tent trailers, but that one is pretty awesome!

I was planning on updating as I went but no reception in the mountains. Well not that good anyway.

First day was a bit of the rush since we had to go from Saskatoon to Athabasca north of Edmonton to pick up my girls then get through Rocky Mountain House. We left at 5:30 am.

Everything packed up tight
8 hours later ish we picked up my 2 girls. 4 kids and 2 adults. The 1998 delica was pulling very nice. The canoe and trailer was a little bit noticeable to pull but not bad at all.

It was getting a bit late when we rolled through RMH but my fear was that coming through at the end of the long weekend could make it hard to find a spot to camp.

Heading into the mountains I figured the talk I heard about no spots available might not apply. Our plans were total rough camping. Since it was late I headed straight to whisper point and we were in luck. Beautiful view and we were ahead of the weather.
It's a busy spot but we were only planning 1 night there. Good thing. Some drunk guy was yelling at midnight about stealing his tank as he ran ... (Sigh). Oh well.

In the morning we packed up and started looking for the perfect spot...
And we found it!

This Kamparoo is great! Literally 40 seconds to set it up and another minute to do the snaps.

I had put all the bedding and tents with thermorests in the trailer. We set up the tents for the kids (2 MEC tents) and some tarps. Took off the canoe and relaxed. We were set up next to lake Abraham.
Although the kids liked their creation better... Logs, rope...

Great area for hikes and geocaches. Dragged the kids to white goat falls... Great swimming.. If you like cold water. I am very impressed with the trailer and would recommend them with a grin. Pulled this thing everywhere through a lot of rock and trails. Kudos to Rising Sun imports too.. This van is pulling its weight and I'm very happy. I was worried about clearance compared to my old L300 but its not far off the mark. It's done great!

Highlight of the trip for me was teaching the whole family to rappel. Started on a slight slope.
And next thing you know :)
They did awesome.

We packed up this morning and headed to my sis-in-laws cabin. No rain for camp take down. Gotta love that!

Another 2 days and we are on our way back.

Nice! looks like a heaps fun trip. Good to hear the trailer is a winner. Hey, did ya climb back up that rope as well as repelling...?

I had my ascenders but chose to boulder up the side :) we had a small window for weather so didn't do much climbing.

Also a great investment were the lights up on the top rack/basket. They could really light up an area. LEDs are fantastic.

Agreed. I'd like some details as to where I might find one for the Dalek to pull. It's a tossup between something like this and something like a Boler trailer, (which would just have to be painted TARDIS-blue).
