Has anyone ever heard of this mod and considered it? I have just been reading about it on the Samba and people are doing it in their VW's. Think it would apply to L400's. Check it out:

I am considering it. I am thinking about starting the search for the cup holder at the wreckers. I actually tried to get one from the states but it would have came to over $100. Me thinks the wrecker will be cheaper.

I just got a big floor box from Cambodian Tire. Works great.

I have one of those too in my westy, but it eliminates the walk through. Handy when you have two carseats to get to. I just like how this folds up and can possibly hold more than a small slurpee.

I like it. What's the cost at the wreckers?

Still searching wreckers around here. Flee bay has a cost of about $50 but the shipping is killer. Shouldn't be that expensive. If it doesn't work out- ah well, I have thrown money away in much worse places!

If you ever need stuff shipped to a US address, I can help out. Though, you still have to drop by to get the part!

Ah man do I wish I lived closer to all you Vancouver/Van. Island/Washington-ers. Life would definitely be better for a Delica addict such as myself. :M

full post on how I did it....

the original idea was posted on the uk site by a fellow member, he bolted his to the floor, I figured that if i slid the seat forward the tray would move too and not cause an obstruction
I like the cut out in it so you still grab the shift lever with it folded up

I LIKE IT! Nice work. Does your passenger find it a bit intrusive attached that far forward on the seat? Looks great- now I am going to amp up my efforts for a winter project (because I just don't have enough of those. :-D )

no complaints so far! being that far forward means you dont have to look behind you to search for the cup holders :)
it gets used more that the oe cup holders ever have!
I flip it up and drop my phone and wallet on it every time I used the truck now, which is good as I'm looking at a double din unit, which will mean the loss of the storage slot under the radio
