has anyone been to Jones lake lately? Was wondering how the road up is? I hear it can be pretty bad. I haven't been up before, but Im thinking of places to camp with my daughter all the while avoiding all the crowded spots like Hicks, etc. (she's 4 next month) Also looking for suggestions for good camping spots.

hi enzo, havent been there for years, problem area is partway up, a steep section that is raw granite rock so very slippery in rain or with 2wd. get a good run at it or be in 4x4.

phone me if you wanna go camping this weekend, i have other suggestions for you. sending pm.
christine.

Funny you ask!! My family and I spent 4 days(3 nights) up there last week!
The road was the best I've seen it since the late 90's. Well worth the short drive!

Brad.

For what it's worth, I've spent most my life camping/wheeling in bc and Jones is one of the better roads, just looks bad(steep). It's only 6 kms of rougher rd too.

There were about 8 travel trailers and tent trailers(including mine) up there with numerous family cars.

Do it! It's a great "free" spot.

I took my '94 L400 up there twice in June and again 2 weeks ago. On each trip, I was surprised to see small cars like a Honda Accord, a Volkswagen Golf, an Infiniti G37x, and other low clearance vehicles at the camp sites. The road up is a piece of cake for a Delica, but I imagine those low slung cars must have crawled through some spots and bottomed out a few times.
