Anyone got any tips or tricks to make it easier to remove the rear door struts? I am taking them off and sending them to Frank at Strutwise to get recharged. Tired of the door hitting me into the van when I reach in to get something.

Support hatch in open position.
Release the c-clip with a flatblade screwdriver on the rod end first.
Then do the same on the cartridge end.
Do not remove the ball joint end that is threaded into the body panels.

I knew you would know! Should of just asked you first. So I don't need to send the pieces that hold it to the door? Thanks Wade!

Best to ask the guy that will service the struts if he needs the ball joint ends.

hey Craig,
It is fantastic once you get them recharged. I had my done this summer and wow what a difference.
My advice is whatever you hold that door up with make sure its freakin solid. The rear hatch is a beast. I would suggest asking someone to help you out for safeties sake. I used my picnic table upended to support the door. I remember hearing one guy used 2 2x4s and one slipped and took out his rear window so again be careful.
I took the bolts out of the door first the the ball out of the van and sent the whole this in. Frank at strutwise will re do the ball and clean everything out. also when putting them back in get someone to help you those small bolts strip super easy.
Good luck
