Delica L400 is getting more popular here in Canada, so it is really important to know the difference for each model year.
We know the main difference between 1st and 2nd gen L400, but there’s no discussion if there is any difference for each year model in 1st gen L400.

Someone claims he does not import 1994-1995 L400 as they are not updated, so he brings only after 1996 model.
Here’s quote from ads.
“We carry newer model now from 1996 up to present to have more updated delica for you.
We don't buy any more 1994-1995 delica L400 which is not updated one.”

As an importer, I know “not really”.
Has anyone noticed any actual differences in each year 1st gen L400 ?
It would be great if you give examples you would like to share ( auction papers, pics, etc ).

Cheers,

Aside from interior options between the base model, Jasper, Exceed, Super Exceed like seating (7 or 8), fabrics, speaker pods, dash mounted binnacle (attitude ball/voltage/air temp gauge).

The only significant difference I have noticed between the 3 years of the Gen 1 L400 is that the newer 1996 models have a passenger side airbag in the dash.

All the other stuff has more to do with the trim levels a person could order from the factory.

Here's what I recall:
  • Low roof and high roof (Crystal Lights, Sun-Roofs, no roof glass)
    2WD or 4WD
    Gas 2.4 or 3.0
    Diesel 2.8L TD
Base model - Cargo or Passenger
    Jasper
    Chamonix
    Exceed
    Super Exceed
Anyone else have some details?

1996 was the year the series 2 began to be produced. Maybe the ad means he only supplies the (updated) series 2?
